Position Objective

The Tax Supervisor will report directly to the Tax Manager and will be primarily responsible for review of sales and use tax compliance, managing sales tax audits, performing research as well as various ad hoc projects. Responsibilities may include assisting with personal-property tax, business license compliance and income tax preparation, when required.

Essential Job Functions

* Reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling sales/use tax return filings and supporting workpapers. This includes supervision of the production of information used to effectively & efficiently generate tax returns, as well as maintaining supporting work papers and files while providing a clear audit trail to source/support documentation;

* Managing sales tax audits

* Reviewing reconciliations on tax general ledger accounts to verify account balances;

* Performing product taxability research and ensuring necessary changes are made via Onesource Indirect Tax Determination Solution; Ability to write and maintain transeditors and reference lists in Onesource Indirect Tax Determination Solution as well as an understanding on how rules are applied within the solution

* Supervising the resolution of notices and assessments with taxing authorities as well as supervising the preparation of responses, protests, and appeals;

* Effectively communicate sales and use tax laws to both internal and external customers through research and interpretation of state regulations.

* Assisting in analysis of proposed transactions for the purpose of identifying sales tax consequences

* Assisting in analyzing new sales tax laws, regulations, reporting requirements, and court cases, and implementing those that impact the tax compliance

* Reviewing sales and use tax journal entries

* Performing other tasks, duties and special projects

* Supervision of tax compliance calendar

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Interpersonal skills to partner with Tax and other internal staff

* Ability to work independently with limited supervision

* Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel

* Familiarity with OneSource Indirect Tax Determination Solution is preferred

* Familiarity with a tax research software, such as BNA and CCH preferred

Experience, Educational Reqts and Certifications

* Bachelor's in Finance or Accounting, MST or CPA Preferred

* Minimum 5 years sales and use tax experience

* Experience with SAAS, PAAS, IAAS transactions preferred

* Experience with SAP S4/HANA ERP System is strongly preferred as well as ability to interface with IT staff on technical issues
