The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Project Manager - Managed Lab Outsource, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Managing the outsourcing of environmental samples (i.e. wastewater, groundwater, product EHS-related samples), where management includes identification of test methods, placement of testing, tracking metrics, technical review of deliverables, quality control, and invoicing




• Providing technical expertise to 3M EHS professionals, product developers, and manufacturing facilities regarding state- and region-approved laboratory environmental testing methods and best practices for sampling




• Identifying, reviewing, and auditing contract testing laboratories to ensure they meet 3M requirements

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in STEM discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution




• Five (5) years of laboratory experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Three (3) years of experience managing analytical laboratory testing activities in a private, public, government or military environment




• Three (3) years of project management experience




• An active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification




• Experience with and knowledge of environmental testing methods




• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)




• Microsoft Office proficiency




• Strong written and verbal communication skills, great attention to detail, excellent documentation skills, ability to work independently to complete projects, as well as the ability to work with cross-functional teams

Location: Maplewood, MN

Travel: May include up to 15% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
