The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Mechanic Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Experience with diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair and maintaining mechanical equipment, systems or processes on slitters, extruders, web systems, conveyors, winders, compressors, pumps, etc)


• Machining and fabrication of parts.  Support area like welding, brazing, rigging and tramming of equipment, and general building repair


• Continue to upgrade skills and experience on new or advanced equipment and process technologies as relates to supporting routine and non-routine work assignments


• Document maintenance and related functions using the CMMS computerized Shop Work Order System, electronic and manual logbooks, and Lotus Notes


• Contribute technical recommendations regarding the improvement or optimization of facility equipment and/or process equipment as needed

• Pay Range $29.42- $34.18

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.


• Currently possess, or in the last seven (7) months of obtaining, a two (2) year technical degree or diplomas in a maintenance mechanical or electro-mechanic field OR a minimum of five (5) year maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

Preferred Qualifications

• Possess an Associate degree in a technical discipline AND a minimum of three (3) years industrial experience


• Experience with manufacturing and/or manufacturing technology on web processing equipment


• Experience with welding fabrication and machine tool technology


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with people at all levels of the organization


• Must be able to work shift work, overtime, holidays, and short notice coverage
