A Day in the Life
This position will be responsible for the execution of New Product Development (NPD) projects focused on next generation Diabetes management systems such as continuous glucose monitoring systems, insulin pumps and pens. The person will be working closely with the Lead Systems Integrator (who is the R&D core team member) and cross functional project team members to lead project management activities to drive execution of NPD projects. In addition to supporting the Lead Systems Integrator (LSI) on the overall project management aspects such owing schedule, tracking risk burndown activities, and tracking project milestones, the selected candidate will also work on project management infrastructure (metrics, reporting, administration, business reviews etc.) and will also contribute to implementing best practice tools and techniques in project management within NPD projects.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:


  • Work with R&D leads to develop and update project schedule ensuring it captures strategy for design and development of next generation insulin pumps.
  • Monitor multiple projects and requests ensuring that they are completed on time and stakeholders are informed of progress and completion.
  • Establish strong relationships with engineering team members and be able to estimate, plan, and execute on program deliverables following design control processes. Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and intervening for problem solving with core team members and cross-functional team management
  • Manage changing priorities on projects through effective schedule management and deployment of Project Management methodologies.
  • Schedule project meetings, design and technical reviews; document meeting minutes and key decisions, and track action items
  • Work closely with Systems Program Operations leader to create project proformas (linking schedule to resource and budget needs), generate forecasts, manage accruals, and track actuals against the forecast
  • Monitor the project from initiation through delivery; Review, prepare and update program status reports, PMO Dashboards and project files such as risk register.
  • Generate Purchase orders; Work with supplier to manage POs, delivery, inspection and traceability of parts
  • Support generation and approval of SOW, consulting agreements, CDAs, and vendor proposals.
  • Support configuration management, generation of BOMs and cost estimates.
  • Support test and integration planning/execution.
  • Participate in implementing best practice tools and techniques in project management within NPD projects and optimization of the Product Development Process (PDP)
  • Support engineering teams to follow effective process. Promote communication between multiple platform teams and disciplines.

Typically, an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects - from design to implementation - while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • A Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience, or advanced degree and 4 years of experience.
  • Expertise in MS Office, MS Teams administrator, Microsoft Project, Monte Carlo Simulations of Program Schedules, Power BI, Agile PLM, JIRA, PTC Integrity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with suppliers, contract manufacturers and technical teams

Nice to Have

  • Experience with highly regulated and/or safety-critical systems is required (medical device experience strongly preferred)
  • Technical degree is a plus
  • Solid understanding of structured product development (requirements-driven engineering, requirements documentation, rigorous verification, DFMEA, etc.)
  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Experience managing projects in the medical device industry
  • Experience with 21CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485
  • Demonstrated track record of establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • High level of enthusiasm, motivation, and drive for results.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, adept at navigating organizational challenges and possess ability to work with through others and accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to establish personal credibility and build trust quickly.
