National Account Manager, Private Label (Pet)

Director, Private Label

POSITION SUMMARY

In this role you will be responsible for fostering strategic partnerships to deliver profitable private label sales growth and market share for both JMS and key retail partners. You will own and manage Smucker & Customer's strategic plan and all aspects associated with that including joint business planning, contract negotiationsand product development. As well as responsible for delivering both short term and long term sales and profit objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Relationship Management - Responsible for developing and maintaining strong partnerships with Key Customers. Provide best in class customer support by leveraging JMS's in depth knowledge of the pet segment, buying power and vast distribution network


  • Thought Leadership- Leverage category, customer and market insights to develop a robust innovation road map specific to each key account. Turn insights into meaningful and actionable assortment recommendations, planogram recommendations and key product claims.


  • Negotiation and Contract Management - Responsible for customer negotiations and contacts for private label. Responsible for leading customer specific Bid and Commodity review process to ensure customer targets are met as well at internal through put, absorption and profit metrics are achieved.


  • Influence Internal Cross Functional Teams - Lead collaborative cross functional discussions to align customer interests with internal business objectives


  • P&L Management - Perform in-depth analysis of sales and profit components to ensure annual targets are achieved for each account.


  • Business Planning - Lead Joint Business Planning meetings to ensure alignment on strategic priorities and mutual business objectives. Responsible for developing both short term and long terms sales plans. Analyze shipment and customer POS data to develop accurate sales forecast for demand and production planning to maximize sales and reduce customer compliance fees.


  • Account Management - Responsible for end to end product lifecycle management including ideation, launch and maintenance. Manage execution of everyday business, including Customer forms & reports, item/deal setup/ maintenance, online content, logistics and inventory management, etc.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required

Experience


  • A minimum of 7 years of CPG sales/National Account management or retail buying experience is required.

  • Proven experience in Leading Joint Business Planning Meetings and building customer relationships

  • Product Development experience preferred

  • Proven Track Record of Growing Sales at key national accounts

  • Experience in strategic decision making, team building, and negotiations

  • Experience in Leading/Influencing Cross Functional Teams

  • Strong technical skills in office applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Proficient in use of syndicated data sources (IRI/Nielsen)

  • Strong project management and independent decision-making capabilities

  • Self-starter with the ability to execute plans with minimal supervision

  • Strong management, project management and planning skills, and comfortable making decisions and embracing changes

  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of work schedule
