Mason & Hanger is seeking an Interior Design Associate who will work under the supervision of a senior interior designer or architect, working on medium to large projects. Responsible for design and presentation drafting on interior design projects, including schematic design tasks and design development through construction documentation. Plans, designs, and furnishes interiors of commercial or industrial buildings. Formulates designs that are practical, aesthetic, and conducive to intended programmed purposes. Performs design and presentation drafting, plans/designs/furnishes interiors of various building types.



Locations(s): Lexington, KY

The work you'll be doing:


  • Creating and editing drawings (CAD / BIM). Working on Construction Document (CD's) & FF&E packages.

  • Assist with presentations, models, renderings, and proposals.

  • Coordinate construction submittals, RFI's, contractor questions and issues.

  • Develop technical knowledge of interior systems and products, order finish samples, maintaining product resource library, scheduling sales rep meetings.

  • The main point of contact to clients for architecture department project responsibilities (meetings, conference calls, comment review/responses, etc.).

  • Assist in cost estimating.

  • Complying with data protection principles while handling personal, protected and / or Covered Defense Information on behalf of Day & Zimmermann. Data Handlers should be trained to follow documented policies, standard operating procedures and secure practices associated with protecting trusted employee and customer data.

What you need to bring to the table:


  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Interiors Design from a FIDER / CIDA accredited school.

  • 0 - 4 years experience.

  • Active pursuit of NCIDQ certification.

  • Ability to obtain security clearance.

  • Great attitude and team player

  • Successful completion of the background screening process

  • Developing proficiency with drawing production software regularly used in department (AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation).

  • Developing knowledge of regularly used codes and standards within department.

  • Develop ability to read and understand construction documents. Position is gaining understanding of the industry and developing ability to complete tasks successfully and with progressively less guidance. Developing understanding of design and construction process.

  • Must build trusted relationships with department through maintaining ownership for assigned work and delivering efficient and high quality results. Expected to be a proactive learner, responsible to seek out support when needed, identify expectations, check own work output against quality expectations, and pursue opportunities to grow technical capabilities. Maintains professional humility and respect in partnership with all team members in pursuit of overall project success. Is expected to know their own technical limitations and proactively seek out support where needed.

  • Be able to take direction and guidance from senior interior designers, architects and others within the company.
