The Engineer, EHS serves as a resource to ensure all environmental, health, safety and engineering expectations are met as directed for the HIMVA site designated. This individual provides leadership, coordination and technical expertise in all areas of environmental, health, safety and engineering compliance to achieve excellence. This position will have the accountability for establishing reliable methods for improving safety, health and engineering performance. Furthermore, this position will also work with all area locations to ensure safe working conditions and interact with team members and management to continually reinforce safe work practices while encouraging positive safety behavior. The Engineer, EHS will sustain a culture where safety is an overriding value in all activities and in which every employee assumes responsibility for safety and assuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Engineering Responsibilities:
Design, coordinate, construct, install and commission process and packaging and processing equipment.
Propose, measure, analyze, design, evaluate and implement best improvement options for machines, processes and mechanisms.
Understand and implement best practices for operations and process automation accounting for key elements of packaging design and product properties.
Coordinate with suppliers to furnish parts and equipment to specification as needed.
Work with in-house manufacturing and contract manufacturers to ensure that the process and packaging systems and procedures provide consistent operating conditions and the safety and integrity of finished products.
Troubleshoot problems with both components, materials and machinery processes in coordination with Quality, Production, Operations, Maintenance, vendors and OEMs.
Draft protocols and execute packaging line and process capability trials in support of commercial deployment of systems.
Support validation/qualification line work, including FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ & PQ, at HLF facility or outside partners to ensure machinery and processes meet all requirements.
Develop SOP's to ensure processes consistently meet all required operating standards for processing and packaging.
Develop detailed performance schedules for all major tasks and areas of coordination, and monitor responsiveness and execution by Herbalife and outside vendors.
Perform additional duties as assigned
Environmental, Health and Safety Responsibilities:
Coordinates and maintains multiple programs and trainings relating to EHS
Maintains compliance with local, state and federal agencies for EHS
Administer and assists with all Accident/Incident Reports and Investigations
Ensures that company EHS policies/procedure & SOP’s are followed
Assists management to include, but not limited to, the formulation and documentation of EHS related policies, procedures, forms and SOP’s
Assists in audits required by FDA, EPA, OSHA, Fire Marshall, and Risk Lost Prevention
Facilitates the Forklift training and Train-The-Trainer programs
Confirms inspection of various equipment is completed
Works with and assist HR on workers compensation (WC) issues and claims
Provides Safety overview to incoming third-party contractors
Perform additional duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills:
Working knowledge of food/nutraceutical materials/processes/equipment

Experience:
5+ years of experience with relevant engineering/technical project execution in a manufacturing environment
2+ years of relevant professional work experience with safety, environmental, health & hazardous waste
2+ years’ experience in cGMP or other regulatory environments
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering or Technical degree
Preferred:
OSHA 10 and 30 hours training certification
OSHA 501 & 511 training
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual – Spanish
Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
