The Team

We are seeking a Litigation Support Specialist to join American Tower’s Corporate Legal organization.  The Litigation Support Specialist provides legal and administrative support to the Corporate Legal department, with specific emphasis on domestic litigation and with duties that include managing incoming services of process and internal dockets and case files, serving as the liaison between law firms and the Company regarding invoices/billing, reviewing and revising (and ensuring compliance with) the Outside Counsel Billing Guidelines, assisting with internal litigation budget tracking, assisting with quarterly accounting meetings, and generally assisting with incremental duties and functions, such as legal research and e-discovery, related to ongoing domestic litigation strategy.

What You Can Offer Us

Liaising with Outside Counsel:


  • Manage outside counsel, ensuring adherence to the Company’s Outside Counsel Billing Guidelines.

  • Interface with outside counsel regarding invoices, including but not limited to the processing and payment of invoices.

  • Update invoice payment status in Legal Tracker.

Collaborating with Accounting Department/Assisting with budget:


  • Track department spend against litigation budget and forecast.

  • Assist with preparing quarterly reports summarizing legal spend and litigation breakdown.

  • Coordinate and track settlement payments through collaboration with Accounting Department.

Managing Litigation/General:


  • Track and review case status by monitoring litigation alerts in CourtLink.

  • Administration of Legal Tracker, the Company’s e-billing platform, including but not limited to the creation of matters, data analysis, and reporting.

  • Assist with incremental duties and functions related to domestic litigation.

  • Assist with maintaining internal litigation files, including docket.

  • Assist with developing and implementing key policies related to ATC’s involvement in litigation, including document retention, outside counsel, and discovery protocol policies.

  • Assist attorneys in all areas of litigation.

    • Assist with trial preparation.

    • Perform legal and factual research and data analyses.

    • Prepare a wide variety of legal documents under attorney supervision.



  • Maintain integrity of legal files by administering and updating files in matter and document management databases.

  • Communicate with internal customers regarding litigation status; update internal databases.

  • Prepare updates for auditors.

E-Discovery:


  • Employ software tools and databases to manage matters and translate electronic evidence into acceptable formats for e-discovery.

  • Act as lead administrator for the Company’s eDiscovery platform, Relativity.

  • Facilitate document collections in Relativity for purposes of discovery.

  • Assist with implementing and tracking litigation holds. Review discovery requests and responses to ensure compliance.

  • Gather, analyze, and assimilate documents and data for production.

  • Work with E-discovery vendor(s) and outside counsel.

Other duties as assigned.

 

What You Need to Succeed


  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Paralegal certification or equivalent preferred.

  • Minimum 6 years of experience as a litigation paralegal either at a law firm or in a corporate legal (litigation) department required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with Legal Tracker; Relativity; other e-discovery platforms; Westlaw; LexisNexis; Courtlink preferred.

  • Ability to complete sophisticated legal tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Approximately 5% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.

  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
