As a Site Coordinator for the Salem YMCA After School program, you will help ensure the care, safety, and well-being of elementary aged children through on-site supervision, staff management, and consistent and effective communication, while overseeing a daily schedule of engaging activities. On a regular day, you will provide supportive coaching and guidance to staff and students, ensure licensed childcare compliance, carry out administrative duties, maintain the site space and program resources,  and build strong relationships with parents and school district partners.  In addition, as a year round position, during the summer season, Site Coordinators play a pivotal role in providing leadership to day camp or summer learning loss programs. 

To thrive in this position you have a strong sense of empathy and proven leadership skills. You have experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds, familiarity with summer camp programming and local state licensing regulations for childcare programs.  You communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.  You are able to work both independently and as part of a highly collaborative team. 

Experience as a Site Coordinator provides valuable skills working directly with youth and in a supervisory capacity that can lead to growth in a variety of fields.


  • Must be at least 20 years old

  • Associates or bachelors degree preferred

  • Must meet EEC qualifications of a Site Coordinator and have a minimum of 1 year of previous experience working with school aged children in a program setting

  • Bilingual speaking abilities in either Spanish or Portuguese

  • In anticipation of the mandate relative to covid-19 vaccination for federal employees, this position requires proof of vaccination or medical/religious exemption
