The Technical Purchasing Buyer works closely with the Materiel Planning group in the reviewing and actioning of requests for the procurement of airframe and engine parts and material. This position evaluates the sources of supply, reviews bid packages, negotiates the acquisition of aircraft related materiel, analyzes trends in purchasing history to identify potential areas for cost savings, collaborates with Engineering and other groups within Technical Operations on cost savings initiatives, and ensures compliance with internal purchasing compliance standards. The Buyer formulates short and long-term strategies to ensure quality and continuity of supply in order to drive a low cost culture and ensure service level is met.
Essential Responsibilities:
Review requisitions for accuracy to maximize inventory allocation, develop strategies, negotiate and place purchase orders for goods and services in a timely and cost effective manner, including tactical and AOG purchasing for immediate Operations needs
Research and qualify sources of PMA (Parts Manufacturing Approval) and OOPP (Owner/Operator Produced Parts) material.
Coordinate with business partners and internal Customers at all levels of management to facilitate the efficient distribution of goods and services throughout the supply chain
Work with Technical Purchasing Expeditors on open orders to ensure delivery requirements are met
Process documents to ensure the appropriate audit trail is available and all Sarbanes & Oxley 404 obligations have been met
Prepare reports for leadership to monitor spend and business partners' performance
Ensure compliance with established contracts for airframe and engine goods and services are met
Execution and administration with RFx packages for material requirements and special initiatives for the fleet

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
Three (3) years inventory experience
Two (2) years' experience in aircraft and engine parts procurement, or experience in other high volume purchasing environments
Experience in a high volume purchasing environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Obtain and maintain Port Authority SIDA ID
Maintain a valid driver's license
Available for occasional overnight travel (5%)
Valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or Aviation discipline
Experience with the purchasing of airframe and engine material.
Two (2) years aviation experience in aircraft maintenance, supply chain or materiel operations
Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate

Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
