The Opportunity

Marvell's Processor Business Unit designs and develops the next generation Multi-Ghz high-performance processor chips in leading-edge CMOS process technology. These chips are designed to service challenging hyperscale cloud workloads, 5G wireless transport, carrier and enterprise data center applications. As part of the SOC team, the candidate will have the opportunity to work on various physical design activities from flow development, place and route, chip implementation and timing.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Perform synthesis, floor planning, place and route, timing analysis, and closure on complex logic blocks.

  • Develop and implement timing closure and logical ECO's.

  • Interface with the RTL design team to drive design modifications to resolve congestion and timing issues.

  • Work with the global timing team in debugging/resolving any block level timing issues seen at full chip.

  • Develop, test and maintain chip end-to-end flows, with specific focus on place and route, integration, and timing.

  • Interact with tool vendors to drive tool fixes and improvements in support of on-going and planned CAD activities.

  • Perform tool evaluations of new vendor tools and functions.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications


  • Strong programming skills

  • Exposure to scripting languages such as Perl/Python and/or tcl

  • Solid knowledge of digital logic, circuit design, and/or computer architecture

  • General knowledge or experience with RTL synthesis, floorplanning, place and route, and/or static timing analysis

  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills. Out-of-the-box thinking

  • Team player with good verbal and written communication skills.

Education


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields and at least 1-3 years of related professional experience.

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields with no professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with running designs through some subset of an RTL to GDS flow

  • Experience with industry tools (Innovus and PrimeTime preferred)

  • Knowledge of high speed and low power implementation techniques/trade-offs

  • Experience with writing Verilog or VHDL
