The Program Manager, Medical Affairs will play a key-role in the Medical Affairs Operations team. The Operations team within Medical Affairs (MA) enables research, innovation, and skills acquisition for Healthcare Providers (HCPs) by supporting the company's strategic initiatives in accordance with Regulatory and Compliance requirements.



This individual will manage our Clinical Training & Innovation Centers (CTIC) Program, where a relationship exists between KARL STORZ and a healthcare entity to support and promote teaching, education, research, and development to enhance minimally invasive surgery through technological innovation in a pre-clinical or laboratory setting.



This individual will be dedicated to supporting our existing CTIC needs regarding their equipment on-site with training, preventive maintenance, repairs, and regular audits. This individual will proactively reach out to our CTIC to obtain utilization data and will analyze and provide insights to optimize our program. As needed, this individual will help coordinate and attend educational events to facilitate the use of KARL STORZ equipment.



This individual will also support Medical Affairs operations as it relates to Investigator-Initiated Research Studies and Innovation with Industry Partners. This will require a dynamic person who possesses passion for advancing clinical care when interacting with Health Care Providers, Scientists, Research Coordinators, and KARL STORZ colleagues. This person must adhere to the requirements of Federal & State Regulations, KARL STORZ Policies and Processes, while maintaining Service Levels on communication.



This position reports directly to the Associate Director, Medical Affairs in our Medical Affairs department.



KEY RESPONSIBLITIES



Nearly 50-60% of time will be in managing our Clinical Training & Innovation Centers Program. This will require a dynamic person who possesses passion for clinical training and innovation when interacting with Clinical Leaders, Surgeons, and Teaching Programs. This person must possess sufficient procedural and product knowledge to support both clinical and operational conversations. This person must adhere to the requirements of our Company Policies and Grant Committee, while maintaining Service Levels on communication.





  • Relationship Management

    • Regularly interface with Surgeons, Medical Societies, Medical Education Directors, Operations Managers, and Lab Specialists at multiple CTIC.

    • Support all inquiries from next steps on requests, to address equipment not functioning, to opportunities to enhance training programs.




  • Contract Management

    • Oversee contracting and processing of agreements.

    • Liaison between internal & external stakeholders to execute contracts in a timely manner.




  • Asset Management

    • Manage the process of care and maintenance of KARL STORZ products at CTIC.

    • Manage inventory to minimize equipment on-hand and manage costs.

    • Coordination of future events along with identification of specific needs in relation to procedural trainings that may occur. Coordinate procedural equipment loans and any additional support needs.




  • Analytics & Insights

    • Define evolving utilization data through acquisition, transformation, & analytics.





The remainder of time will be spent managing our Research & Innovation Program with various internal and external stakeholders. These activities could involve grant support to Healthcare Organizations or Industry Partners, while working with our internal team members, from Marketing to Global Product Development.




  • Relationship Management

  • Regularly interface with Principal Investigators, Research Coordinators, Materials Management, and research teams at multiple Healthcare Organizations.

  • Support all request inquiries and work with team to ensure all required information is submitted

  • Contract Management

  • Oversee contracting and processing of agreements.

  • Liaison between internal & external stakeholders to execute contracts in a timely manner.

  • Reporting & Close-out

  • Work with sites to receive quarterly reporting on progress of research

  • Manage the equipment return and study closeout process

  • Obtain publications at end of studies



Essential Elements




  • Reports directly to the Associate Director, Medical Affairs.

  • Travel requirement will be 20-30% to Clinical Training & Innovation Centers, top-tier teaching hospital, medical schools, and/or to major medical society's annual meetings.

Qualifications




  • A minimum education level of a bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

  • 6 to 10 years of biomedical engineering, healthcare, surgical education, or clinical research experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong listening skills and customer orientation for problem solving

  • Possess excellent multi-tasking, organizational, analytical, and time management skills

  • Must be able to prioritize workload effectively, process work with minimal errors, and meet established deadlines

  • Must be able to interact with multiple people on all levels and work on projects with frequent interruptions

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications required

  • Experience with Tableau, PowerBI, or other data visualization software is ideal.
