As Chief of Staff working on the U.S. Commercial Operations team, you will be empowered to serve as the Chief of Staff (COS) to capability leaders within Commercial Operations. A typical day will include:
POSITION OBJECTIVES:
Support the U.S. Commercial Operations (USCO) Leadership Team (COLT) in their information sharing processes
Provide operations, finance, project management, and process improvement leadership for USCO
Ensure the leader of U.S. Commercial Operations (SVP, COO) has an early sense of the progress of essential plans, provide project oversight and management of cross functional and key initiatives, and ensure appropriate coordination and management of budgets and integrated project plans for U.S. Commercial Operations
Lead USCO through efficient process completion by:
Be an extension of the Chief of Staff to the COO to:
Establish and facilitate relationships with USCO capability leaders at the Sr. Director and VP levels
Stay up-to-date with activities across the USBU to ensure awareness, where needed, by the COLT (Commercial Operations Leadership Team)
Partner with COLT and other USBU leaders to ensure USCO has strategic partnerships and alignment to US Business Units
Provide leadership and mentorship to USCO through team development, direct report advising and continuous improvement efforts
Listen for and identify connection points and opportunities for agreement across USCO and then drive to a coordinated approach. Track project and initiative status and communicates to the COO to ensure early adjustments
Drive functional priorities support as defined by the COO and Chief of Staff, including management of budgets and integrated project plans for essential initiatives
Provide ongoing tracking and management of risks related to implementation of USCO initiatives and strategies with meaningful metrics and summary reports
Drive USCO cultural initiatives within Commercial Operations
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Governance:
Facilitate functional governance processes including COLT meetings, annual goal setting, KPI tacking, executive level reporting, and more
Coordinate USCO leadership meetings and work with COO and the Office of the President of the USBU, to coordinate USCO reporting and deliverables into the USBU Executive Team.
Establish appropriate governance and schedule for functional leadership meetings to ensure metrics are reviewed to facilitate performance discussions, reviews, and process improvements
Budget & Financial Management:
Lead financial cycle planning and budget management for USCO, in close partnership and with COLT and Finance
Manage communications for USCO, including all team and town hall meetings for the entire 200+ person group
Work with Finance partners and COLT to ensure budget is managed (including trade-offs where necessary) across USCO
Manage and develop a direct report responsible for USCO Budget, purchase order and vendor management tracking
Extended Leadership Team Partnership:
Work with Corporate communication partners to ensure alignment of USCO communications / messaging with company and USBU-wide messaging
Work with HR business partners on any USCO-wide related HR programs, projects, or communications
Work with IT Partners on any USCO- wide related technology issues, projects or communications
USCO Stakeholder Management:
Represent USCO with stakeholders external to the group and contribute to Company Strategic programs with an enterprise mindset
Help guide awareness and stakeholder engagement on Global/ USBU Strategic programs and transition projects into the organization (e.g. Change Captain for IT integration projects, Representative for Remote Promotional Engagement Team)
Ensure partners are up to date with activities across the USCO department
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Minimum requirements:
Bachelors degree - BS/BA
8+ years of management experience in the pharmaceutical, biologic/biotech, or medical device industries
Management experience in US Commercial Operations
Experience leading a team/ organization and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders
Experience leading and delivering programs with complex processes and deliverables
Strong Leadership, business acumen and ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, timelines and expectations of multiple partner groups
Ability to influence without authority
