Michael Baker International is seeking a Resilience Program Manager to join our Florida Team. This position will be based out of our Tallahassee, FL office, however, we embrace a hybrid work environment allowing for a combination of working in office and remote. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in developing a high-profile, innovative coastal and climate resiliency program in Florida.

We are looking for a dedicated, creative, and energetic candidate interested utilizing statewide contacts and familiarity with the state resiliency program to develop potential project opportunities throughout the entire state. Collaborating with our experienced professionals in our 5 existing office locations, you will drive the development of opportunities utilizing your knowledge and experience of the federal and statewide grant programs. The position requires knowledge, experience, and interest in working with agency representatives across the state who are intimately familiar with the FDEP Resiliency Program and how the grant process is managed. Must be willing to travel and work well in a team environment.

What you will do:


  • Manage the development of a strategic plan for identifying and prioritizing project opportunities across the state
  • Work with Office Executives, Office Managers and Department Managers to evaluate existing contracts with government/private entities responsible for managing resiliency projects.
  • Engage in research and task execution in support of high-profile risk and resilience programs/projects across the state.
  • Coordinate with Regional Planning Councils, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, and other sub-state regional and local entities responsible for prioritizing infrastructure projects for inclusion in the statewide resiliency program.
  • Review and report on all agencies/entities submitting grant applications each year and develop a business development plan for targeting those applicants receiving grants as well as those who did not receive grants.
  • Support resilience efforts with Michael Baker International federal group with agencies such as FEMA, NOAA, and the various military installations located in Florida.
  • Support the team in tasks ranging from general field visits to monitoring project schedules to ensure an on-time delivery.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials, and participate in client meetings
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including clients, coworkers, subcontractors, municipal staff, and the public
  • Work independently and as part of a team, with the flexibility to accommodate collaboration with team members across the state of Florida and others in the Southern Region.
  • Knowledge of organizational and management practices as applied to the analysis and evaluation of programs, policies, and operational needs.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written communications.
  • Comfortable communicating with senior levels of management and all stakeholders.
  • Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Who you are:

  • Reliable, client-focused, collaborative, and capable of working independently under the supervision of Office Managers and Office Executives
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with strong research and general communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and work ethic
  • Exceptional at communicating and working in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to prioritize amongst competing priorities and eagerness to take ownership of tasks
  • Knowledge and experience using concepts, data, theories, analyses, and practices related to climate resilience
  • Functional experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook) and Adobe/Bluebeam.
  • Prior experience and familiarity with generating appealing visuals, infographics, and diagrams for reports and presentations and preparing public-facing technical and planning reports
