Description:

Join our Neighborhood PACE Team as a Recreation Assistant in East Boston! Under direction of the PACE Center Recreation Therapist, the Recreation Assistant oversees and implements a therapeutic activity program that is appropriate to the range of interests, cognitive, physical and social needs of PACE participants in the PACE Center. Assists Recreation Therapist, in facilitating PACE Center-Based Participant Council Meetings to solicit advice and receive feedback. Contributes to the development of the therapeutic activities program in the PACE Center. Provides guidance and support to PCAs around assisting participants with activities. Schedule is Monday - Friday.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Demonstrates ability to conduct arts and crafts groups, exercise groups, and cognitive activities such as current events and quiz games

  • Assists participants with dietary interventions as defined in care plan, including adherence to special diets, fluids, or use of adaptive feeding aids. May provide direct feeding assistance as defined in care plan

  • Communicates observations in change in behavior/mood or participation level to Activity Coordinator and appropriate team members.

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • High School diploma/GED required.

  • Nursing assistant certification preferred

  • Activities Assistant Certification (AAC) at time of hire or commitment to complete within 6 months.

  • One year experience working with elders or other frail population.
