Your Responsibilities

As an Engineer, Electrical Systems Diagnostics Owner for John Deere Harvester Works Product Development Center located in Silvis, Illinois, you will be working within the combine harvesting platform to develop and standardize diagnostic workflow for combine products. You will work closely with other system design engineers, software developers, user experience leads, and enterprise customer support teams to enhance the overall diagnostic experience.


  • Serve as the combine electrical system diagnostics champion leading the implementation of quality diagnostics and long-term diagnostic strategy
  • Create new processes and associated documentation to educate engineering teams in best practices for the implementation of vehicle diagnostics, enhanced visibility via reviews, and explicit expectations for deliverables
  • Participate in enterprise diagnostic expert team activities to develop new diagnostic standards, implement best practices, and conduct training with local platform team
  • Work with functional area expert groups to determine diagnostic needs and strategy enhancing the diagnostic user experience
  • Collaborate with all harvesting platforms to drive diagnostics alignment across product lines
  • Look outside the enterprise for industry and adjacent industry best practices and standards for incorporation into Deere standards
  • Support development of electrical systems requirements
  • Provide build support at various stages throughout the product development cycle

What Skills You Need


  • 3+ years of vehicle electrical / software system design, integration, or testing experience
  • A good understanding of electrical hardware/software interaction
  • Experience with electrical systems diagnostics integration and diagnostic trouble codes
  • Experience authoring and/or utilizing machine diagnostics
  • Demonstrated technical leadership
  • Demonstrated experience owning and managing project deliverables
  • Knowledge of general product development processes
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage time effectively
  • Provide clear concise oral/written communication
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 10%

  • Experience working in PREEvision and CANdela
  • Agriculture or other off-highway vehicle development experience
  • Experience with systems engineering practices
  • Project management experience
  • Experience leading and training new team members/peers
  • Experience leading design work performed by remotely located team members
  • Advanced training in additional engineering disciplines

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline
