As a Clinical Nurse Educator with us, you will have the opportunity to be involved in the coordination of care and services for patients admitted to St. James Healthcare / SCL Health who are identified as needing assistance or meeting Care Management criteria.

Your day.

As a Clinical Nurse Educator you need to know how to:


Evaluates orientation annually and revises accordingly

Responsible for appropriate record keeping and communication to department directors.

Facilitates/coordinates St. James nursing preceptors to ensure compliance with preceptor program to promote optimal orientation for new hires.

Oversees and coordinates staff education activities to promote opportunities for staff development.

Assesses learning needs and coordinates educational activities to meet identified needs.

Provides educational offerings and evaluates effectiveness of these offerings.

Utilizes adult learning principles in program development.

Stays current with new developments in training techniques, methods and programs for possible application in education activities.

Rounds daily on units

Coordinates training for new equipment/products. Works with Materials Management when necessary.

Assists nurse managers with the planning and implementation of staff development programs.

Interacts professionally with the nursing staff and nurse managers to determine specific educational needs and to coordinate educational programs to meet those needs.

Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates orientation, staff development and continuing education programs for RN's, CNA's and unit clerks in the Med/Surg departments;

Develops in-services related to new policy and procedures, nursing related topics, and process improvement initiatives identified through quality review activities;

Participates in departmental and organizational committees supporting patient safety, practice standards of care and quality of care processes.

Actively reviews professional journals and networks with other tertiary partners to ensure evidenced based practices are current and integrated into policies and procedures;

Demonstrates leadership to new hires

Support the manager in developing performance improvement plans to support attaining and maintaining expected staff competency;

Provide leadership competency assessments and develop in-services or other initiatives supporting growth professionalism, teamwork and supportive coaching and communication skills;

Facilitate unit council activities to develop staff skills in developing and implementing process improvement initiatives including evaluation of the efficacy of process changes



Your experience.

BSN degree from an accredited program required

Current State of Montana Registered Nurse License*

BLS

ACLS

TNCC

PALS or ENPC

Experience in education and/or demonstrated relevant education and clinical expertise in providing education to adult learners.

5 years clinical nursing experience preferred.
