DESCRIPTION
This Structural Bridge Technical Manager position will report to the Bridge Department Manager and provide team leadership in technical aspects of bridge design and local standards. The successful candidate will manage projects, provide technical and local knowledge and provide guidance as a senior technical advisor to the team of technical staff to complete engineering and studies in support of bridge and structural civil infrastructure. Project work will specifically focus on bridge, retaining walls, highway, and road projects for Michigan DOT and local agencies. Project management will be part of the overall Technical Manager duties. As a key part of our Detroit, Michigan Structures/Transportation Team, you will work with Michael Baker's senior management and staff to:
•Support and manage a staff of professionals, including training, career development and performance reviews
•Lead projects
•Collaborate with the National Bridge Technical Services Manager, as well as structural engineering managers from other Michael Baker offices around the country, and will be part of a dynamic team responsible for expanding the structural engineering practice currently servicing state, county, and municipal clients
•Participate in ongoing strategic positioning for new project opportunities in the state of Michigan
•Manage client relationships and client engagement to best serve the interests of the client and Michael Baker
•Be responsible for successful contracting and project execution, working closely with regional Michael Baker International staff, group leadership and office leadership
•Manage staff utilization by scheduling, monitoring and revising assignments
•Perform technical analyses, calculations and tasks as needed
