Your responsibilities

Summary:

The Logistics Engineer designs, implements, and executes continuous improvement initiatives that optimize cost structures, improve productivity and product throughput, streamlines processes, and improves service and performance metrics across all operations within Materials and Logistics. Designs, analyzes and implements supply chain solutions to solve complex logistics problems for distribution of materials and finished goods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.

  • Designs, analyzes and implements supply chain systems employed in the distribution of direct material and finished goods.

  • Analyzes and improves manufacturing & warehouse layouts to optimize material flow, storage, retrieval and distribution.

  • Identifies annual cost savings opportunities.

  • Supports continuous improvement of operational and financial logistics performance.

  • Designs, develops, validates, and implements methods and tools that improve operational flexibility and execution of a lean production systems using appropriate lean logistics concepts.

  • Modifies and improves existing logistics systems such as material flow, storage and information flow.

  • Supports Logistics teams in the development and implementation of methods for material ordering, communication, transportation, packaging, and distribution throughout the supply chain.

  • Develops and implements solutions that focus on reducing lead time throughout the value stream and extended supply chain.

  • Collaborates with Lean Facilitator and other managers to identify improvement opportunities for workshops and actively participates in workshops.

  • Teaches and drives the utilization of lean logistics tools such as Plan for Every Part, Kanban, Supermarkets, Milkruns, SAP Templates, etc.

  • Collaborates with other Logistic professionals across all TKBA locations to optimize "best in class" shipping, receiving, and warehousing processes.

  • Acts as liaison with all other worldwide Bilstein facilities.

  • Creation of Process Designs and Functional Designs for SAP changes.

  • Leads a project team for new product launches and all other improvement projects

  • Ensures compliance and safety of all activities within the organization standards and policies.

  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Your profile

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Strong knowledge and understanding of supply chain, transportation and logistics concepts.

  • Proven experience independently performing complex routing, fleet sizing analysis and warehouse design and layout for multiple projects.

  • Thorough knowledge in MRP systems.

  • Strong knowledge of Logistics Planning, Material Management and Distribution Management in support of customer operations and requirements.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean Logistics and modern Lean Manufacturing concepts.

  • Knowledge and ability to synthesize new and emerging technologies into manageable and practical applications.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects in a team based environment and operational setting.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (oral, written, and listening.)

  • Proven experience managing and delivering complex projects within scope, budget and on time.

  • Flexibility and adaptability with respect to changing work schedules.

  • Demonstrated discipline and consistency regarding adherence to established standards, policies, procedures.

  • Independent & organized work style with the ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work responsibilities, assume and manage multiple tasks without close supervision, and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in an international environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and lead improvement teams.

  • Fluency in English (written and verbal)

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance.

  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skills.

  • Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers.
