Your Responsibilities

As a Quality Supervisor Metrology & Services for John Deere Harvester Works located in East Moline, IL, you will provide supervision and work direction for inspectors in the CMM lab, manage and perform dimensional metrology engineering work and technical services for PDP and OFP. In addition, you will:


  • Responsible for the creation of the annual budget for the area and development and maintenance of the necessary operation procedures for the lab.
  • Maintain/update existing CMM programs as determined by process engineering or an Engineering Change Request.
  • Manage Job Request Priorities for the CMM to ensure timely and accurate results to interested parties.
  • Participate in functional geometry reviews and initial sample inspection report reviews as a dimensional metrologist and provide interpretation and guidance on geometric dimensioning and tolerance as pertains to dimensional metrology.
  • Work with ME, QE, and Operations personnel to resolve production quality issues pertains to evaluating part quality and developing manufacturing processes.
  • Write, operate, consult and troubleshoot dimensional metrology engineering programs. Provide programming education at the operating unit for low to moderately complex manufactured parts, using any of a variety of programming languages.
  • Ensure compliance with, and help create procedures to maintain the unit's quality labs and systems to internal and international standards.

What Skills You Need


  • Demonstrated team leadership skills, including coaching and facilitation.
  • Knowledge of standard quality tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes Effect Analysis), SPC (Statistical
  • Process Control), Root Cause Analysis, Statistics.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for geometric dimension and tolerancing , weld symbols, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic data analysis techniques. (e.g. pareto charts, histograms, pie and bar charts and control plans.)
  • Knowledge of current and emerging metrology products, tools and concepts.
  • Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Experience in supervision and/or management of individuals or teams in a union environment (i.e. Module Leader, Production Supervisor, etc.)
  • Experience in weld, manufacturing, design, tooling, or programming.
  • Kotem or similar CMM inspection report interpretation, control plan development or process/product based risk mitigation.
  • Project management experience including creating a plan, coordinating resources and delivering results.
  • Experience with engineering tools, systems and databases.
  • Experience in use of statistical tools and techniques for quality management.
  • Metrology engineering experience, including the use of metrology tools and techniques.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/Science/Math discipline or equivalent experience.
