The Merchant Services Data and Analytics team is driving the build out of Merchant Services next generation data platform which will power industry leading client reporting, direct data consumption by our clients and analytics.

The Data Solutions Product Owner is responsible for defining and executing data & analytics focused programs - powered by big data analytics - for Merchant Services focused primarily on its core business of facilitating payment acceptance for clients. The position is ideal for an individual that can combine product management, business analyst and superior problem structuring skills.

The role is a mix of strategy consulting (defining the "what", problem solving, client interactions), product management (leading the development and roll out of data/analytics driven solutions) and hands on product ownership defining epics & stories ; The role requires strategic thinking to engage with senior executives on defining the data and analytics roadmaps that drive business value and then running execution for the programs in close collaboration with Data Science, Development Operations and Big Data Infrastructure.

This position will report to a Product Solutions Lead.

Core Competencies/Key Priorities:


  • Responsible for being proactive on projects and engaging team members and key stakeholders to drive conversations and deliverables that impact the overall roadmap
  • Partner with Area Product Owners and product team for ongoing refinement of product backlog and execution of the product roadmap
  • Define and present strategy for features, write epics, user stories, acceptance criteria and participate in all agile events of the product group as a team member
  • Understand the environment(s) in scope and serve as a Subject Matter Resource
  • Understand client need and client use of the platform and dependencies
  • Conduct elaboration sessions to solicit requirements from external partners
  • Writing Epics, Stories, Testing Conditions/ scripts and validation criteria
  • Facilitate and drive customer focused solutions across the organization in direct support of the Area Product Owner
  • Act as voice of the customer and drive product vision
  • Work with other product teams, finance, risk, operations and technology teams to define, prioritize, deliver and align solutions to product vision and roadmap
  • Support technology teams with prioritization of backlog, testing, user experience testing, product backlog refinement, research and other duties as assigned
  • Affinity for technology and product management (and end to end product development)
  • Exceptional analytical acumen and ability to advance thinking to "best in class", with a digital mind-set
  • Appreciation for controlled execution and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Ability to concisely articulate complex information in both verbal and written form
  • Strong interpersonal skills to both partner with and influence stakeholders

Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in the fields of business, engineering or computer science
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or project management role preferably with Agile methods, process & execution
  • Management consulting experience is a plus
  • Experience in the payments industry and/or technology-enabled industries
  • Requires experience developing business requirements, writing stories, preferably working knowledge for creating testing conditions, use cases and validation criteria
  • In-depth understanding of the payments value chain (merchants, brands, acquirers, networks, issuers) preferred
  • Understanding of application development process
  • Experience in agile methodologies
