As the Director, Risk Management, you will engage leadership, affiliates and others to develop, maintain and implement risk management strategies and solutions including risk assessments, business impact analyses, strategy selection and documentation of risk management plans and procedures. You will plan, conduct and debrief regular mock-disaster exercises to test the adequacy of existing plans and strategies and update procedures and plans.

What you'll do on a typical day:


  • Create risk management strategic and operational roadmaps, program goals and objectives

  • Develop and maintain risk management program documentation, including but not limited to policies, standards, governance model, program procedures, tools and templates

  • Coordinate with site/business functions to perform business continuity program activities such as business impact analysis (BIA) to identify and document recovery requirements for critical business functions and processes

  • Coordinate with business functional areas to ensure that recovery strategies and business continuity (BC) plans are developed and tested

  • Develop and facilitate BC plan testing and exercising process, procedures and testing materials

  • Define, monitor and gather data to show achievement of key BC program key performance indicator (KPI) targets in order to report accomplishments, gaps and deficiencies

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you'll need:


  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent related work or military experience

  • 7 years of experience in risk management, business continuity, emergency response or crisis management area

  • Knowledge of business impact assessments, risk management, business process recovery planning, crisis management and disaster recovery planning processes

It'd be great if you also have:
  • Certifications such as MBCP, CBCP, ABCP or CRISC

  • Experience with facilitating and leading risk assessments for various functions within a supply chain organization

  • Knowledge of business continuity crisis management technologies and processes to identify continuous improvement opportunities

  • Strong organizational, planning, presentation and program/project management skills

  • Self-motivated, proactive, independent and responsive

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, presentation, facilitation and diplomacy skills


  • Availability to travel up to 50% of the time

  • Experience with managing and leading incident response and communication plans
