Data Analytics Analyst 

Analytics Center of Excellence 


 

The Analytics Center of Excellence is responsible for providing critical capabilities of the enterprise analytic community.  

Key Responsibilities: 



  • Develop and mangage process that measure the adoption and adherence to the firms Analytic & Reporting Governance Program 




  • Create and develop dashboards, reports, visualizations in support of firm initiatives and programs.  Document business requirements and create data requirements. Build data sets necessary for the reports 





  • Analysis that facilitates the transformation of raw and/or summarized data into information and insights.  Includes intermediate data modeling, forecasting, statistical analysis and financial modeling. 




  • Document, monitor, and proactively recommend improvement to processes and controls related to area responsibilities; quantify business and financial impact for leaders. 




  • Develop and manage business relationships and partnerships with targeted business owners and finance associates. 




  • Inform and educate other business areas as to the impact of decision; deliver original insights on opportunities for enhancing Firm performance. 




  • Identify and recommend enhancements to divisional reporting and key measures 





  • Assist with the implementation of projects requiring cross-functional teams to achieve the division and firm's overall business objectives.  Independently organize, plan & prioritize individual effort needed to ensure overall success. 




  • Educate Team members & business owners across the firm on analytical concepts and best practices 




  • Takes constructive action with direction from others while leader reviews non-routine outputs 




  • Serve and a technical and functional Data subject matter expert 




  • Transform, re-engineer, and extract data in relational and MPP (Hadoop) data bases using appropriate tools including SQL, PLSQL, Hive, Impala, Spark and PIG. 





  • Build requirements for, develop and enhance automated processes that provide functional areas with data and information 



Position Qualifications: 



  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in the areas of mathematics, finance, business, engineering or information systems. Advanced degree is a plus. 




  • Prior experience in a control, risk management or audit function preferred.         




  • Ability to prioritize and execute on multiple tasks/projects and adjust to changing priorities with minimal leader required 





  • Ability to extract and analyze large amounts of data using various tools 




  • Moderate analysis skills, primarily investigating and explaining trends and variances using statistical techniques required 




  • Works effectively both independently and in a team environment required 




  • Ability to effectively communicate with associates and leadership in cross-functional settings using verbal, written and presentation skills required 




  • Ability to execute pre-existing project plans and possesses basic project management skill. 





  • Strong analytical, critical, and systems thinking required 



 

Technical proficiency preferred in the following: 

 

o    An advanced ability to interact with various database and file storage systems (DB2, IDMS, Oracle, Hadoop, NoSQL) 

 

o    Data manipulation languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig, XML 

 

o    Statistical tools such as SAS, SPSS, R, or Jump 

 

o    Microsoft Excel - experience using pivot tables, formulas, macros, vba, charts/graphs 

 

o    Business Intelligence such as Hyperion, OBIEE, or IBI WebFOCUS, Sharepoint 

 

o    Visualization tools such as Tableau, or PowerBI
