HR Directions seeks a prospect for its client RTI International for the Project Management Office Internship within the Global Technology Solutions business unit.

Global Technology Solutions (GTS) caters to the diverse technology needs of RTI International and its effort to digitally transform the Institute. GTS provides technical support, resources, and services to help staff work efficiently and effectively in compliance with RTI policies. GTS also aims to provide technology solutions to support the Institute's business and administrative functions and make RTI a global leader in finding innovative solutions to technological challenges. The Project Management Office (PMO) team defines and maintains the standards for project management and also provides governance and oversight for successful delivery of IT projects.

The Project Management Office (PMO) Intern will be a key contributor to a Project Management Center of Excellence. The intern will assist with project management, scheduling, meeting facilitation, documentation, and be introduced to the Global Technology Solutions (GTS) PPM Tool, Planview. The PMO Intern will facilitate the PMO team's weekly program and portfolio reporting, support the configuration of data into the Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) Tool (Planview), and will be responsible for projects as the project coordinator supporting the Global Technology Services team.

Responsibilites


  • Support the Project Manager for assigned project(s) by ensuring they are established to meet required scope, make sure plans are appropriately developed and managed, assist in status reporting, and escalate issues as needed

  • Manage logistical arrangements, including scheduling and preparation of meetings and recording meeting minutes

  • Facilitate the PMO's weekly reporting cadence (in Excel and Powerpoint)

  • Support the configuration of project data into the team's project management tool (Planview)

  • Support the PMO as a Center of Excellence by learning and applying project management best practices, process improvement, change management tools and techniques to continuously strengthen the department's ability to deliver and perform

Additional Information

This paid virtual internship will take place from November 2021 through May 2022. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week. Hours are flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday.








Required Qualifications


  • Must be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking student, or a recent graduate (within one calendar year of graduation for the entirety of the internship placement

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Ability to analyze data to make impactful conclusions

  • Ability to multi-task and handle stressful situations with perseverance and professionalism

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to listen and communicate well both written and verbally, with keen attention to detail and accuracy

  • Resume submitted with application

Preferred Qualifications


  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint

  • Strong working knowledge PowerPoint and Excel

  • Working knowledge of an IT organization or with PM and/or IT methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, ITIL, Agile)
