Global Software Development Manager


Waltham, MA


Your Tasks:


As a member of the Miltenyi Biotec team, you will lead the SW teams across different worldwide sites, manage work packages, monitor timelines, create status reports, and closely working with scientists and engineer to align product development activities. Additionally you will lead planning, development, prototyping, and documentation of software designs within product development for complex life science lab instrumentation As a result of your ability to facilitate the development of new features based on input from multidisciplinary team members, you will support the continued success of Miltenyi Biotec as a whole.


Among other responsibilities, you will:



  • Coordinate, communicate and collaborate with local and remote development teams, as well as with scientists and engineers from a wide array of disciplines.

  • Maintain production-level software development lifecycle alongside R&D.

  • Manage and coordinate developing software and related SW services while working with various departments and end-users to determine software requirements.

  • Co-Develop architecture for hardware-based software in coordination with applicable Miltenyi product lines.

  • Lead and participate in meetings with management and cross functional teams to discuss how software applications can achieve business objectives and provide status report outs.

  • Regular travel to worldwide Miltenyi facilities and/or external collaborators.


Requirements:



  • 8-12 years industry experience in the field of medical device and SW product development; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 10+ years development experience using an object oriented language (Java, C#/.NET, or C++) to develop complex software designs supporting research, new product development, and product maintenance

  • Very familiar with agile software development and management tools such as Polarion, JIRA, scrum board, confluence, Git, code repositories

  • Preferable in depth knowledge on image algorithms and artificial intelligence based algorithms

  • Experience with embedded and real-time operating systems.

  • Strong Interest in automated lab solutions, DNA detection, Next Generation Sequencing, and cell technologies

  • Familiarity with Next Generation Sequencing techniques is a plus

  • Proficient in written and spoken English

  • Software Skills: C++/C# programming experience, Python, Windows Linux operating systems, MS Office

Work Environment:


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This person will have an office environment which is temperature controlled. This job is performed in a temperature controlled facility without exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures. Generally, this job is performed in a manufacturing environment. Employees must wear appropriate clothing and protective equipment such as masks, glasses and gloves. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
