About this Opportunity

Human centered problem-solving design is the core of what we do at Herman Miller. As a Digital Product Design Manager, you will direct and manage a team of Product Designers. You will ensure your team has the methodology, tools, and training they need to do their best work. You will contribute to strategic planning conversations to ensure that feedback from your team influences digital strategy, project roadmaps, and team initiatives. You will also evolve the discipline of product design in the wider group by developing rigorous and repeatable processes in collaboration with other managers and functional leads.

Connects as a thought leader in the organization, responsible for sharing and evangelizing the work of our team and the discipline of product design. Leads discussions of methods, processes, and strategies with cross functional collaborators. Provides career guidance and mentorship for a team of product designers Works with every part of the product team, including engineering and product management, to develop and ensure adoption of user-centric methods and tools Turns broad, conceptual ideas into functional products that customers love Facilitates prioritization and staffing conversations with business goals, user goals, and team goals in mind Cultivates a user-centered culture on product teams and throughout the organization Ensures projects are appropriately scoped and structured in a way that Product Designers can be successful Reviews deliverables and provides direction to product designers Prepares and facilitates workshops, design thinking exercises, and design sprints in support of product design projects Gives and solicits feedback from other functional leads to enable continual development of team members

You might be just who we're looking for if you have . . .

• Bachelor's Degree in Design, Human-Computer interaction (HCI), User Experience Design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.


• 5+ years of experience in product design, team leadership, strategic product thinking, or similar role.


• Experience working with an agile product development team.


• Demonstrated leadership capabilities - experience in both team leadership and employee development.


• In-depth understanding of user-centered product design methodology


• Extensive experience working with creative design teams and agile development teams


• Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in san agile environment


• High level of consultative skill


• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skill


• Demonstrated strong time-management, problem solving, planning and organization skills for success in a results-oriented environment


• Experience analyzing and writing product requirements
