About the Position

Highway Designer | Watertown, MA

VHB's growing Watertown, MA headquarters is seeking an Highway Designer to join our Transportation Design team.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team of professionals in developing roadway, highway, and multi-modal engineering solutions for a variety of transportation-related projects


• Roadway / highway design


• Drainage design and utility layout


• Temporary traffic control development


• Preliminary and final design plans


• Contract documents, including specifications and construction cost estimates

Skills & Abilities

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills


• Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team


• Ability to work in both an office and virtual environment


• Detail oriented, self-motivated, and committed


• Strong computer skills


• Critical thinking and problem solving

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required, MS a plus


• 0-3 years of professional transportation engineering experience


• EIT preferred


• AutoCAD / Civil3D experience required


• Infraworks or SketchUp experience a plus


• Familiarity with MassDOT project development a plus
