Drive strategy, go-to-market messaging and storylines for capturing value of data and analytics for retail, consumer packaged goods (CPG), manufacturing, communications, telecom and other industries. Direct industry experience in one of those target industry is highly valued, as well as experience in the data and analytics technology marketing.

This marketing professional is responsible for setting the vision and working with cross-functional teams in delivering high-impact, industry-specific messaging and content, both internal and external audiences, to drive marketing, sales and customer impact.

You'll be a core part of a small, highly-motivated team focused on industry marketing and the business value of data and analytics - but expect to collaborate often across the organization and beyond. You'll work across product marketing, corporate marketing, partner teams and field sales, among others, to drive impact.


Key Responsibilities


  • Understand industry vertical trends, industry dynamics and customer needs and behaviors to define key marketing themes, value propositions and inform strategic POV on target industries including: retail, manufacturing, communications, telecom, among others.


  • Develop business, audience and product positioning, messaging and storylines that educate, inspire, and create meaningful engagements with customers and prospects in those target industries.


  • Cultivate a solid understanding and be able to articulate key data-driven use cases and business value for industries.


  • Map out a content strategy and calendar that supports and extends marketing initiatives, determining which formats and methods work and why across channels and mediums. Write, produce and lead content creation solo, with agencies and with technical subject matter experts.


  • Be an expert on Cloudera success in vertical industries. Translate customer success to resources that support awareness, demand generation, and sales enablement.


  • Align with sales and industry specialists to enable sales and field teams with sales tools and assets that accelerate customer conversations.


  • Working closely with industry directors on strategic sales plays and integrated marketing programs.


Qualifications


  • Good working knowledge of data and analytics in one or more of these specific vertical industries: retail, consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, communications and telecom.


  • Direct industry expertise in one of these vertical industries is highly-valued


  • 15+ years of professional experience, ideally with relevant work in marketing or communications for technology such as big data, analytics, machine learning or distributed systems.


  • BA/BS or similar required, MBA preferred.


  • Ability to understand marketing strategy and convey a clear value-based message for a clearly defined target audience.


  • Demonstrated history of crafting compelling positioning and marketing content; able to self-produce projects.


  • Experience leading and influencing multiple projects involving technical, business, strategic, marketing and planning activities


  • Ability to think and communicate a clear point of view on complicated issues and create a concise and well-written narrative to express it


  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of individuals, both inside and outside the company.


  • Ability to influence across multiple teams without reporting responsibility and to command the respect of individuals around the company


  • Strong project management skills with ability to thrive in high-pressure, time-sensitive scenarios.
