Haskell is seeking an Associate Medical Planner to join our growing team in Charlotte, NC!


Haskell's Design & Consulting Services (DCS) Group unites architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across industries and geographies. While some clients are looking for turnkey design-build or engineer-procure-construct projects, the DCS Group serves clients who need specialized, fee-for-service design or consulting projects. These types of projects allow our team to form a strong rapport with client teams, marshaling them as they grow and helping them address industry and market challenges. The DCS Group serves four primary markets: Government, primarily Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Air and Army National Guard, and the U.S. Naval Facilities Command; Industrial, focusing on food and beverage, consumer products, and utilities; Civil Infrastructure; and Healthcare.



Scope of Position


Associate Medical Planner I: Compile and evaluate facility data to be used in developing strategies and solutions that add value to clients. Thorough understanding of site and facility design, planning, and programming as well as industry sources of information/benchmarks. Develop floor plan concepts that respond to clinical operations, industry trends, technology development, and strategic initiatives.


Associate Medical Planner II: Identify, troubleshoot and work with clients to find alternative, creative solutions. Support the master planning team with directed option development with detail, storytelling, and delivery


Job Responsibilities



  • Assist in the development of space programs and space benchmarking

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external teams

  • Develop blog content and internally present research on industry market trends

  • Supports project consultants with project management needs

  • Work on rough order of magnitude cost estimating and phasing

  • Support the master planning team with directed option development

  • Create slide outlines, assemble planning slide decks with oversight and assistance

  • Build presentations/storyboard to present to clients

  • Create conceptual or schematic plans with oversight and assistance

  • Work with other design disciplines to learn their influence on space planning

  • Review and articulate data findings with client

  • Actively pursues new knowledge in the field of healthcare planning, design, and strategy

  • Develop consultancy skills relative to a specific track/service offering.



Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications Etc.



  • Possess the desire and ability to work well in a team environment

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and sketch-up and preferred experience in Revit

  • Knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite preferred

  • Master a base understanding of the consultancy practice

  • Fluent use Microsoft office and Analytical Platforms (PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau, Microsoft Office/Teams, Internal Database, etc.)

  • Understanding of healthcare planning tenets

  • Understanding of various AHJ and code requirements with a focus on healthcare

  • Possess basic organization and communication skills: writing, teamwork, time management etc.



Education/Experience



  • Candidates must possess a relevant undergraduate degree in architecture, and 4-6 years of work experience in a consulting or healthcare architectural design role with an emphasis on planning.

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements


While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
