Responsibilities



Manages, supervises, and coordinates the operations of the Labor and Delivery and High Risk OB units by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.


Selects, schedules, assigns, and evaluates staff. Ensures education needs of staff are met. Evaluates activities of service to ensure patient care, staff relations and efficiency of service. Directs the nursing assessment of obstetric patients. Observes nursing care and visits patients to monitor patient perceptions and ensure that care is administered in accordance with hospital policy and physician instructions. Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of unit policies, goals, and objectives. Participates in the development and modifications of unit programs. Participates in infection control and quality assessment activities and analysis. Interprets and enforces department and institution policies. Participates in the development and monitoring of unit budget. Collaborates with other departments and units within Maternal-Child Health to meet patient needs. Performs other duties as assigned



Qualifications




Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Current CA Registered Nurse License

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification

  • Current NRP Card

  • Advanced or Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course within last 2 years

  • Three (3) Years Labor and Delivery experience

  • 1 year of Leadership experience




Preferred Qualifications:



  • Registered Nurse Certified - Obstetrics (RNC - OB)

  • Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC)

  • Master's Degree

  • Previous Management experience
