Job Description:

Schaeffler, a global automotive & industrial supplier, is seeking a Coordinator - Strategic Customs and Compliance for our Fort Mill, SC location. The primary focus Goal of the position is to perform tasks to ensure compliance and efficiency within the Strategic Customs & Compliance - USA team

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:


  • Supports Customs Strategic Team to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products.
  • Assist Customs Strategic Team issuing certificates involving free trade agreements and preference
  • Provide part classifications using the Harmonized Tariff Regulations and Schedule B charts, duty rates, to Schaeffler internal personnel as needed or required along with maintaining master cat data.
  • Assist in supporting requirements, audits, etc. to ensure C-TPAT (security) program for Schaeffler Group.
  • Support the monitoring, maintenance, and retention of records and documentation associated with the duty drawback program
  • Act as company liaison for government customer service issues, audits, notice of penalties and evaluations
  • Assist in regulated auditing of documents and processes to ensure compliance with federal laws, Schaeffler regulations, and requirements.
  • Be knowledgeable of and apply import/export regulations, rate changes and anti-dumping laws corresponding to the importation/exportation of bearings, automotive and other relevant goods
  • Performs other duties and projects as required or assigned.
Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field or customs related professional degree or combination of education and equivalent work experience experience
  • Knowledge of US customs law, international experience a plus
  • Ability to work in a team and profound intercultural competence
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Good knowledge of MS-Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Maintain knowledge on changes in regulation in US customs law
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to read and interpret laws, regulations, operating instructions and procedure manuals
  • Public speaking skills and comfort addressing groups of customers or employees in training, audits and conferences
  • Skilled in mutitasking and handling stressful and fast paced situations
  • Familiar with using discretion, initiative, judgement, and independent decision making
