Inspection of all incoming scrap/materials at the truck and rail scales
Verify all scrap loads to insure they comply with the material specifications and proper purchase order
Direct sub-contractors for proper handling, offloading and loading of scrap in the yard
Document and schedule proper scrap drag set ups according to chemistry requirement of melt line up
Verify all weights of both inhouse and direct melt railcars
Track daily receipts and consumptions for accurate accounting inventory
Documentation of all loads rejected and the return or disposal of each scrap load rejected with a Notice of Scrap Non-conformance form to supplier. Ensure vendor’s responsibility to arrange removing of material
Required to maintain HAZMAT, DOT Certification, Radiation Safety Training, and RADCOM detector operation knowledge
Manage communications with scrap suppliers/vendors, Rail services (ex: OHIO Central), State Agencies, Scale maintenance services and Sub-Contracting companies when needed
Maintain communications with Vallourec buyer, accounting department, environmental, safety shipping/receiving, operations, and all other internal departments as needed
Responsible for Safety and 5S of scale house and all yard areas and activities
Physically capable of working outside during all weather conditions when required
Other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE:
Ability to utilize SAP, Scale Soft, Value in Use, MS Level 2 and yard mapping within the scope of the position.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Capability to learn and understand scrap types and characteristics for proper inspection to internal guidelines
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent.
HAZMAT, D.O.T. and Radiation Training.
Accountable for completing OSHA-required training via the CTC as well as any other mandated safety training and/or safety meetings. Must be trained with experienced inspector.
