Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting for an Construction Engineer 2 in Los Alamos, NM.

This position will support the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Navarro employee in a staff augmentation position. This position does not have relocation assistance or per Diem.

The Construction Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the technical aspects of construction and maintenance projects are in full conformance with approved document and contractual documents by monitoring facility maintenance and construction activities. This is accomplished by ensuring that baseline documents are accurate, design documents are adhered to, and as-built configurations are verified. Field Engineers expedite project execution through identifying issues, coordinating technical solutions, and providing timely guidance through approved policies and procedures. Will be responsible in leading all aspects of the Engineering Technologist 1 position.

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee, develop, and/or enforce adherence to Contract Documents consisting of drawings and specifications to define changes to buildings and infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel. Including preparing Field Change Requests and daily progress reports and keeping supervisors properly informed on the progress of all assigned tasks
  • Skilled at preparing field material purchase requisitions through material take-off, including estimating the quantities and assuring compliance with design specifications and drawings.
  • Experienced reviewing: Work Packages and Work Instructions for completeness; project design; and engineering documents to ensure their completeness and constructability.
  • Experienced in inspecting construction work for compliance with drawings, specifications and national codes and standards; and performing witness testing, interpretation of design drawings and specifications, and closeout requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead all activities listed above.
  • Experienced working independently on tasks ranging in complexity.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 9 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Knowledge of DOE and LANL Engineering Standards and Conduct of Engineering principals and procedures.
  • Fundamental knowledge of engineering and construction techniques, applications of engineering and construction methods, and application of technology and tools to conventional facility operation and cons
