Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting for an QA/QC Inspector 3 in Los Alamos, NM.

This position will support the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Navarro employee in a staff augmentation position. This position does not have relocation assistance or per Diem.

Level 3 is considered a skilled journeyman-level position. Incumbent applies knowledge of the job, and Laboratory policies and principles to complete a wide range of tasks. Incumbent has complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. Also has general knowledge of other related disciplines. Assignments are usually focused while working within established priorities, procedures, processes, requirements or specifications. Priorities and tasks are usually prescribed. Incumbent is expected to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. Impact of work is usually limited to a well-defined area. Incumbent performs normal aspects of job with little or no direct supervision. General instructions are given for new assignments. Work is occasionally reviewed for soundness of judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Some contributions for original work are expected.

The Quality Control (QC) Inspector Quality Specialist will be deployed from the Quality Support Services (QSS) Group within the Institutional Quality and Performance Assurance (IQPA) Division to support various programs and projects across Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The QC Inspector must be capable of performing inspections as a Level II inspector in accordance with the requirements of N45.2.6. Each candidate must have a minimum of 7 years' experience performing inspections associated with construction, modification, maintenance, or operational support. Experience will need to be in line with the requirements associated with each discipline the individual is certified to perform. Individuals will need to be capable of certification in the following disciplines:

  • Electrical/Instrument and Control (I&C)
  • Mechanical/Dimensional
  • Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Receipt Inspection/Material Control
  • Surveillance and Workmanship Inspection
  • Coatings
  • Positive Material Identification (PMI)

Typical responsibilities include the following:

  • Perform Level II-III QC inspections
  • Control and review Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and inspection/test reports prior to submittal
  • Maintain clear, concise communications with project management and others on the project
  • Proactively evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for corrective actions
  • Assist in the development and updating of inspection procedures, reports/inspection forms/formats, protocols, and checklists
  • Maintain compliance with codes and standards such as IBC, International Building Codes as well as codes and standards associated with various programs
  • Read and understand design drawings, specifications and engineering terminology associated with various programs
  • Perform duties of a Nonconformance Report Coordinator including the tracking, reporting, and fostering timely closure of open nonconformance reports
  • Possess working knowledge of NQA-1

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
