POSITION SUMMARY

The Logistics Manager will supervise a team of buyers and their procurement activities, while maintaining a hands on role in the ordering, expediting, deliveries, quality concerns, and MRP Master Item Data. They will ensure that purchases are the required quality and quantity, at the most economical cost, and of timely delivery. This role reports to the Material and Logistics Manager, and oversees a team of six to eight Buyers.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(Other duties may be assigned as needed)


  • Supervise a team of Buyers and the procurement activities

    • Activities include orders, expediting, deliveries, vendor quality issues, non-conformance returns and replacements, etcc.



  • Control and maintain the ERP Master Item Data

  • Monitor purchasing and logistic performances through KPIs (OTDP, Inventory Levels, Purchase Price Variance, Freight In Rate)

  • Manage operations for a portfolio of vendors

  • Perform annual appraisals of Buyers

  • Support and train purchasing team to ensure that goals and KPI are met and maintained




QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • APICS certification preferred

  • 7-10 years of related purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • 3-5 years of supervision or leadership experience

  • Proven negotiation and cost savings skills

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with an ERP system (Infor/Baan preferred)

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel at an advanced level
