About the job

The Alcoa Aluminum Commercial Sales and Trading group is looking to add a Manager, Scrap and Secondary, to our team. This role will be responsible for developing and managing contracts and strategies related to scrap and secondary materials and processors for Alcoa globally.

Key responsibilities and characteristics include:

Scrap


  • Buy and sell scrap material globally

  • Evaluate scrap and re-melt strategy for all locations

  • Manage scrap and RSI inventories in coordination with metal control and operating locations

  • Drive sales and/or consumption decisions with locations

  • Contribute to tolling negotiations with customers, provide market updates, identify trends and alternatives

  • Manage Alcoa Direct data and sales systems

  • Track and report on market prices globally for benchmark alloys by region

Secondary


  • Negotiate processing contracts for dross and other secondary items globally

  • Lead commercial discussion and issue resolution for contract related items with secondary processors

  • Track performance on volume, price, recovery, and inventories

  • Coordinate and track EHS metrics across all secondary locations including salt cake processing and disposal of other residues

  • Perform site audits

  • Process ad hoc material requests for processing or sales

  • Develop and maintain backup processing strategies for all locations including alternative processors, logistics, permitting, and cost considerations

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related

  • 5+ years of related experience

  • Strategic and analytical thinking

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred:


  • Experience in the scrap and secondary industry

  • Knowledge of scrap types, alloys, forms, and markets

  • Proven track record of strong coordination between operations and commercial functions

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
