Job Description:



NTS is a premier provider of third party test and evaluation services to the defense, aerospace, and telecommunications industries. We are leading provider of fluids testing, including high temperature and pressure, cryogenic testing, and a wide variety of working fluids. We are seeking a Fluids Principal Engineer at our Santa Clarita, CA facility.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide technical leadership to the Fluids test department, including review of engineering work product, design of test, mentoring, and troubleshooting

* Develop engineering process improvements to increase operational efficiency, improve work quality, minimize rework, and ultimately exceed customer expectations with respect to technical execution and on-time delivery

* Work with Quality and Operations to draft SOPs and Best Practice documents and ensure compliance with all accreditation requirements

* Work with AEs to support quote development and perform technical review of large/complex/risky quotes to ensure capability (hardware and employee skillset) exist to execute the job as quoted

* Work with Quality and Operations to develop training materials for standardization of skillsets by labor category and support the deployment of this training at the facility

* Work with Operations to manage capital assets at the facility. Coordinate maintenance of asset database, manuals, capabilities, etc.

* Identify and coordinate maintenance of critical spares for key assets.

* Survey current and future demand for the Fluids business line to inform investment decisions and ensure alignment with industry needs and expectations

* Represent NTS on relevant committees to drive standards development, participate in working groups, present technical papers

* Perform other duties as may be required


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

* Expert knowledge of fluid system components (fittings, seals, valves, regulators, compressors, pumps, ejectors, evaporators, heaters, etc.) and component testing

* Expert knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics concepts

* Ability to quickly understand and contribute to the development of fluid system schematics (P&IDs), and troubleshoot system behavior based on insights therefrom

* Experience with cryogenic, high temperature, high pressure, and high flow rate systems. For example operation and components of aircraft environmental control, bleed air, and fuel systems

* Ability to identify safety hazards and implement risk reduction activities to mitigate the identified hazards

* Experience designing fluid systems for aerospace applications, with working knowledge of test concerns such as cleanliness and FOD prevention

* Hands-on experience in the design, integration, test, and operation of complex test facilities

* Experience interacting with vendors and machine shops to coordinate project execution

* Experience with project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation

* Expert understanding of data collection, interpretation, and analysis

* Excellent written/verbal communication skills

* Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and customers at all levels, from technicians to CEOs, technical and non-technical

* Must have effective leadership skills to organize, communicate, and motivate staff

* Must be flexible and able to quickly adapt/react to changing situations and schedules

* Exceptional organizational abilities needed to handle numerous tasks in support of assigned responsibilities

* Must be proficient with compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures

* Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support NTS test sites, customer interaction, technical meetings/conferences, etc.

* Self-motivated, dependable, and responsible person requiring little direct supervision

* Extensive background check and US Citizenship will be required


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* BS in Engineering required (Mechanical, Physics, or Aerospace Engineering preferred), advanced degree preferred

* 10-15+ years of relevant fluid system testing experience, including fluids engineer, test engineer, department manager, etc.

* 5+ years of engineering management and/or program management experience in a high-tech or fluids test environment. Experience managing a fluid test facility preferred.

* Strong leadership and business experience preferred.

* Experience working high-value and technically challenging test programs and demonstrated ability to execute within tight schedule and budget constraints

* Experience with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

* Experience in working in a project team environment

* Must meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Test lab with exposure to sudden, loud noises

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
