Job Description



The Time Base Flow Management (TBFM) program expands upon the Traffic Management Advisor (TMA) with NextGen enhancements. The TBFM program work scope includes sustainment of the system, and Design, develop, test and implementation of NextGen enhancements

The System Test Engineer will be responsible for creating, updating and executing Functional Test Plans and Procedures for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Control (ATC) Systems. Test related activities may include front-end, back-end, performance, and regression testing of various software or hardware components of the Air Traffic Control Systems. The position requires significant interaction with other System Test Engineers, Software Engineers and System Engineers along with interface to FAA Customers and Management. Duties will include writing, revising, reviewing, and executing System Test Plans and Procedures to ensure the system under test meets all defined requirements. Evaluate and test software using various testing techniques to verify functionality and performance according to specifications and requirements. Collaborate with functional and development teams to define and analyze test artifacts. Analyze test artifacts to identify system problems and options for improving the effectiveness of the Test procedures and the Integration test team. Contribute to the setup, configuration, and maintenance of the System under Test. Complete work assignments and perform appropriate follow up to ensure that tasks are completed on time. Participate in review of standards, procedures, tools, and process.

Job Requirements



TBFM System Tester


  1. Integration and Test


    • Problem Determination/Resolution

    • Development of Test Plans/Procedures

    • Lab Execution of Test Procedures

    • Data Analysis Necessary to Verify PTR Fixes

    • CR Verification

    • Regression Testing




  1. System Integration or Integration and Test experience;

  2. Installation and Integration (I&I) Testing;

  3. Integration and formal test;

  4. Test plan/procedure/report CDRL development;

  5. Scenario design/development/test;

  6. Air Traffic Control experience (Minimum 5 years required);

  7. Detailed knowledge of today's Air Traffic Control System (required);

  8. Extensive ERAM project, ECG, EBUS, TFM or FTI experience either working with the FAA or as an independent consultant. Experience must be hands-on as a designer, programmer, integrator or tester (minimum 5 years required);

  9. Good communication and interpersonal skills (required);

  10. Knowledge of deployment of Air Traffic Control Systems (minimum 5 years required);
