The primary purpose of this position is to accurately collect and validate data that will help Bay West decide how to best protect the public and the environment from this contamination.
This role is responsible for the coordination of analytical services, internal and external client analytical database support, verification and validation of analytical data, and reporting of data quality. This position will support and collaborate with a diverse group of Bay West’s Program and Project Chemists, Project Managers, Project Staff, Field Staff, Database Coordinators, and the laboratory subcontractors.
Tabulation, upload, and interface with internal and external DoD client database systems;
Coordinate analytical services with Project Team;
“Hands on” role with setup of project planning in environmental data management software;
Coordinate with subcontracted laboratories as to project sampling and analysis including data tracking, project timelines, troubleshooting, compliance, and quality requirements for each project;
Prepare detailed and summary level data validation and assessment reports of analytical results and quality following data validation guidance such as DoD General Data Validation Guidelines and established project UFP-QAPP and methods; and
Prepare analytical sections of UFP-QAPPs and project work plans.
BS/BA in Chemistry or biochemistry, environmental sciences, biological sciences, physical sciences, or engineering from an accredited institution with at least 30 semester hours in chemistry supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours of physics. An advanced degree in one of the listed disciplines may be substituted for equivalent experience.
Preferred 2 years of experience in areas of environmental sampling and/or analytical testing outside of academic.
Experience with the instrumental software, chemical data and environmental data quality information systems is a plus.
Understanding of environmental analytical methods and data relationships such as field and lab QC samples, significant figures, validation, qualifiers, multiple runs, etc. a plus.
Comfortable working collaboratively with other project team members and environment to deliver solutions to challenging technical projects. Responsiveness to co-workers and good communication skills are essential.
Excellent communication skills, written, and verbal.
Ability to be self-directed and work independently, as well as a team-player.
Detail-oriented and highly organized.
Possesses analytical problem-solving skills.
Strong time management skills.
Limited overnight travel to conferences, satellite offices, project locations, and client locations may be required.
