GM's Electrification Calibration group currently has multiple openings for Diagnostic Strategist Calibration Engineers. The positions are located at the Milford Proving Grounds ina unique facility dedicated to hybrid/EV/AV development.


The selected candidates will work on GM's hybrid/EV/AV programs and be responsible for leading development, validation/verification, and compliance of the on-board diagnostic controls and calibrations within an electrification technology area.


The positions involve significant in-vehicle and lab work, along with related analytical and performance verification activities. Diagnostic Strategist Calibration engineers engage in cross-functional teams, are expected to handle multiple projects/priorities, and frequently need to balance planned and unplanned work.


A typical week includes in-vehicle calibration & testing, lab/bench/analytical activities, and collaboration with algorithm/software and hardware engineers. Diagnostic Strategist Calibration engineers participate in offsite development trips as well as onsite program team vehicle evaluations.



Responsibilities:


  • Plan and execute overall diagnostic development plan


  • Provide leadership and technical guidance for other diagnostic calibrators as they develop and optimize diagnostic calibrations


  • Develop and optimize diagnostic calibrations to meet performance and timing requirements utilizing calibration standard work


  • Identify and procure resources needed for diagnostic calibration development


  • Support resolution of vehicle, plant, durability/dyno, or customer issues


  • Represent the diagnostic calibration team to various program execution and strategy forums


  • Follow all Safety Precautions and Requirements, and treat safety as the top priority during all work activities





Required Qualifications:



  • BS Engineering Degree


  • Minimum 3+ years of automotive controls, calibration, diagnostics and/or hardware development


  • Knowledge of and passion for electric and hybrid-electric vehicles


  • Excellent problem-solving skills


  • Good interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams


  • High level of oral and written communication skills


  • Good project planning and leadership skills


  • DFSS Black Belt


  • Experience with tools commonly used in calibration: INCA, Vehicle Spy, CRETA, MDA, Matlab/Simulink





Preferred Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of automotive controls, calibration, diagnostics and/or hardware development


  • 2+ years of on-board vehicle diagnostic experience (calibration, controls, and/or integration)


  • Knowledge of software and/or calibration development processes


  • Current or previous role in providing technical direction to others


  • Experience with interacting with senior leaders


  • Knowledge of OBD Regulations (CARB, China6)
