Working under minimal supervision, the Metal Model Maker Journeyperson is responsible for the construction of a variety of models used for design evaluation and clinic purposes.
Additional Job Description
Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company procedures
3 or 5 axis CNC machining of prototype castings utilizing dedicated fixtures
CNC machining for general tooling, test fixturing, automotive components and castings
CMM coordinate measuring of engine, transmission and other automotive components using Zeiss and Adcole technologies
CNC programming skills (NX Unigraphics, FeatureCAM, Cad/Cam) Art to Part
Precision measurements holding tolerances of +/- 7 microns
Knowledge and ability to work in different mediums (i.e. ferrous, non-ferrous, nylon and plastic)
Good organization, communication and problem-solving skills, capable of working closely with engineers, designers and peers in a team environment
Interested individuals must meet the following minimum qualifications:
U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate as Metal Model Maker or six (6) years of documented experience as a Metal Model Maker (notarized documentation required).
Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which include comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
At least 18 years of age
Eligible to work in the United States
Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day or afternoon shift as well as overtime hours daily and weekends on those shifts with little notice
General Motors UAW hourly employment offers a very competitive compensation and benefit package. An annual incentive payout is also available, as qualified.
Relocation and travel expenses will be the responsibility of the applicant.
