VDDV ADAS/Active Safety Simulation Engineer, responsible for virtual simulation of Active Safety features performance on GM vehicle programs for different consumer metrics and GM in-house scenarios and load cases.


  • Collects and builds components of the Active Safety vehicle model (scenarios, sensors, controls, vehicle dynamics, etc.); assembles these components into a functioning system model.


  • Conducts simulations with the system model to virtually calibrate and validate active safety features performance.


  • Works with Advanced Vehicle Development Engineers and with Calibration and Validation Engineers to execute and document Vehicle Performance Assessment, including variation studies, to improve vehicle performance and performance robustness, and to minimize test hardware utilization.


  • Attends vehicle design and performance reviews and makes design recommendations based on Active Safety simulations.


  • Tests development versions of new active safety features using simulation.


  • Pro-actively identifies new opportunities to apply Active Safety simulations to support Vehicle and/or ADAS Features Development and Validation.


  • Proactively seeks understanding of new Active Safety modeling technologies; adopts and uses simulation and programming tools effectively.


  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of current Active Safety regulatory, consumer metric and internal requirements and test protocols.


  • Works with CAE tool suppliers to develop an effective modeling process and toolset for Active Safety simulations.


  • Works with GM Engineers across the globe; supports collaborative, creative, and productive work environment.


  • Shares knowledge openly with Team members and proactively seeks understanding of relevant tools and processes from other Team members


  • Keeps components and results of his/her work well documented, organized, and available to Team members.


  • Consistently and proactively takes lead on problem solving; seeks feedback about the results provided to the stakeholders.


  • Consistently demonstrates GM Core Values and Behaviors.

Qualifications:




Required:



  • BS in ME or EE


  • 2 years of experience working in ADAS/ Active Safety


  • Knowledge of Vehicle Safety, Vehicle Dynamics, Safety Controls and Active Safety Sensors (radar, camera, Lidar)


  • Ability to learn and use Application Program Interface (API) of various software


  • Programming knowledge: C++, Python and/or Matlab/Simulink


  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written


  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to overcome challenging roadblocks


  • Demonstrated ability to keep multiple projects on track, well organized and documented through all phases from definition/initiation to completion


  • Ability to work independently as well as a team member





Preferred:



  • MS in ME or EE


  • Knowledge of Vehicle Dynamics simulation tools and AV/ADAS simulation tools such as CarMaker, CarSim, Vires VTD, Carla, etc.


  • Familiarity with High Performance Computing (HPC) environment


  • Experience with co-simulation setups


  • Basic knowledge of git
