This is a Hybrid Position which does not require you to be on-site full-time. This role enables you to work at a GM facility as required and off-site as needed.
The Virtual Hardware-in-the-Loop (VHIL) team is a highly technical, highly knowledgeable, passionate, strategic, and forward-thinking group working on an organizational transformation. We are seeking ground breaking solutions to the question: how do we develop and validate our embedded control system without any hardware? The VHIL team is developing a 100% virtual HIL platform to do just that. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! This space is ripe with technical leadership opportunities for advanced technology development, as well as the ability to provide mentorship for new employees. You can flex your teamwork muscles as you will be tasked with working with several other areas of engineering, IT, and the business.
VHIL is developing virtual capabilities and virtual electronic control units (VECU) (real-time virtual counterparts of physical ECUs) all across GM's portfolio, including Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) Computing, Electrification, Infotainment & Connectivity, Chassis & Body, and Propulsion. Both of these aspects of the VHIL program need to be continuously managed.
As a Program Manager, you will be responsible for the business impact and successful commercial execution of the VHIL program strategy and objectives. This is a rare organizational leadership opportunity which provides a chance to engage in the development of this cutting-edge technology.
Project manage the development capability improvement projects with external partners
Manage VHIL program external partners to ensure on-time and quality project deliveries
Manage proof-of-concept and advanced development projects
Project manage the development of VECUs; leading Design Release Engineers and Buyers, Tier 1 Suppliers, and external partners
Lead commercial meetings with Tier 1 Suppliers and VHIL program partners
Lead Design Release Engineers and Buyers through collaborative VECU sourcing efforts
Architect and implement long-term VHIL license management strategy
Handle needed licenses for VHIL program
Develop Statements of Works and ensure adherence
Develop and continuously manage budget and spending forecast
Participate in Technical Review meetings
Additional Job Description
Minimum Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics
Minimum 2+ years of relevant program management experience
Demonstrated success in leading challenging cross-functional projects with high levels of ambiguity to completion
Expertise in project management and project planning
Experience executing on-time deliverables for production vehicle programs
Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organization skills
Excellent communication skills
Consistent demonstration of GM leadership behavioral competencies
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Science in Engineering Management
5+ years of relevant program management experience.
Project/Program Management Certification
Proven Statement of Work writing experience
Knowledge of sourcing and purchasing process
Understanding of Global Vehicle Development Process
Understanding of software development processes
Expertise in supplier management
