Electronic Control Units continue to be an area of growth in the global automotive market. General Motors is looking for exceptional candidates to lead the Electronic Control Unit Hardware component solutions. In addition to owning the Bill of Design imperatives, the candidate will be responsible for leading the technical direction of other specialists or engineering support personnel and may have work direction responsibilities over a small group with specific engineering objectives.
The global voice for technical expertise to deliver common business and technology missions. Develops to the overarching technical strategic roadmap. Ensures reuse and technical excellence of engineering solutions and components. Works with the key stakeholders from execution and support teams to ensure common implementation of strategy and to promote technical knowledge in a key area of the ECU HW COE. This includes positions in any key area such as Requirements & Specifications, Design & Analysis, Partnership Development, Tools, and Operations.
This position is within the Global Electronic Components and Subsystems team and works across the System's Management Teams to provide common solutions.
Owner of deliverables and process based on key area assignment of the ECU HW COE
Document and maintain common controller the Bill of Design (BOD) imperatives and controller supplier benchmark library
Work with technical community to develop technology roadmap solutions
Lead innovative culture across controllers including Record of Invention submissions
Establish overall reuse and strategies across all control modules
Provide proposals for new technology ideas/projects and provide technical support
Lead the development of solutions to meet requirements by working with the feature owners
Initiate epics as appropriate and provide required information to move them to decision
Support or define enterprise sourcing strategies & business models
New process Supplier Quality Support as requested
Foster communication and learnings between regions
Mentor engineers via robust investigations and provide consultation to other areas of the business

Additional Job Description
Bachelor of Engineering in a core field (Mechanical and/or Electrical and/or Computer)
10+ years of experience in Product Development or related activity
High level of competence in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements
Knowledge of GM product design and development cycles
Excellent knowledge of vehicle serial data communications (CAN, GMLAN, LIN, SENT, Ethernet) and electrical architectures (Global A GEM and VIP)
Detailed knowledge of mechatronics, microcontroller architectures, memory technologies, and programming
High level understanding of hardware and software design and failure modes in electronic modules
Leadership and interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively in a team environment
Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
Results driven individual with high levels of initiative and pro-activity
High degree of Program Management skills
Excellent oral, written communication skills and problem-solving skills involving complex systems
Experience in the automotive product release and specification process
DFSS Black Belt Certification
Preferred Skills and Experience:
DFSS Master Black Belt
Master's Degree in Engineering, Math, or Physics
Knowledge of SAFe Agile Release process including PI/ART/SCRUMS
