Position: Application Specialist Long-Term Contract to Potential Hire (12+ months) Rate: DOE/Market Location: Charlotte, NC
Modis NC is looking for an Application Specialist for a great client in the Charlotte area. The Metering Application Specialist performs a range of activities related to end-user technical support, technology service delivery coordination, and systems support. This is accomplished by collaborating with customers, vendors and other personnel; ensuring systems are available; configuring, installing, and troubleshooting deployed applications and associated hardware; serving as a liaison; assisting with various projects; application and technical training development and delivery assistance; and generating reports and the delivery of application data..
Performs hands-on break/fix of the hardware and application components of metering technology devices, including personal computers, specialized field hardware, and computer systems including servers.
Works directly with the Customer Server / Metering Services and technology team(s) to ensure issues are resolved or escalated in a timely manner and as consistent with the needs of the customer.
Responsible for monitoring and responding to the City Service Desk problem resolution process for standard City desktop applications and general computer workstation hardware to ensure quality customer care.
Actively participates in general application maintenance including user administration, approved configuration changes, enhancements, and upgrades.
Participates in a regular project and/or team-oriented meetings to discuss project activities, share information with team members, and to engage in employee/contractor development activities with leadership.
Responsible for researching, compiling data, and composing technical documents in a manner relatable to the indicated audience.
Actively monitors systems for reliability while also ensuring completion of daily process functions including file uploads / downloads.
Actively creates meaningful reports related to - but not limited to system usage, reliability, and performance.
Serves as the backup liaison between the Department and the Metering Technologies Lead.
Proactively monitors the water industry for trends, solutions, and enhancements to service.
Maintains an understanding of business processes, tasks, and requirements.
Manages and reports time accurately while balancing workload.
Participates in meetings, presentations, training, and other functions as requested.
At least two years of relevant college-level course work or an Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Three (3) years of experience in applications/systems administration and direct user support.
High degree of proficiency in using the Microsoft Office application suite.
Experience providing general systems administration and hardware troubleshooting in a Microsoft environment.
Familiarity with Structured Query Language (SQL).
Experience providing basic TCP/IP network support and troubleshooting.
Basic understanding of the principles project management and related tools.
English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Knowledge of technology best practices, standards, and terminology.
Strong verbal, written, and team skills.
Experience in operating a motor vehicle and a valid driver's license.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience using Structured Query Language (SQL) for reporting and troubleshooting.
Experience in the creation and maintenance of application related training materials.
Ability to gather customer requirements, manage business requirements, and provide technical solutions.
