Our client in Syracuse is looking to engage a QA Engineer on a full time basis. Resource must be able to work on site. This is a great opportunity for a Senior QA Engineer to come in and design process and testing strategy.
Must be able to work on site in Syracuse 2-3 days per week.
Excellent communication and articulation skills with both the customer and the software engineering team.
Build credibility with the development team you serve.
Must have genuine enthusiasm and passion for technology, its application to solve business problems, and ensuring the supported application is the best in can be.
Strong technical background to ensure that every discussion, negotiation, and feature comprehends technical intricacies and limitations.
Ability to write SQL and other programming languages that enables you to develop ad-hoc test harnesses that help you triangulate issues, and formalize your findings of any deficiencies.
Demonstrated experience implementing and teaching test automation systems and procedures. See below for more on this point.
Attend requirements discussions on an ongoing basis with Business Analysts to develop a first-hand understanding of business needs.
Verify that our software applications work to defined specifications.
Validate that our software applications are appropriate for the defined business need(s). This is more important and challenging than mere verification, and is the beating heart of this role.
You are expected not just to find issues, but also bring thoughtful solutions to the table. A great QA Engineer also assumes responsibility for finding solutions to issues that they may have overlooked. Creativity is a must.
Develop knowledge of our industry, including the roles and responsibilities of our software's audience.
Develop deep knowledge of our software applications, including their feature sets and design.
Keeping reasonably up to date on the underlying technology used by our applications.
Meeting and talking with customers/users as often as practical.
Help us define our overall QA strategy.
Share your experience with test automation, helping our Software Engineering team strive for enhanced TDD and CI objectives that lessen your verification burden and maximize the time you spend on thoughtful validation.
Identify key KPIs for product quality.
Prepare and present reports and metrics to Senior Management.
Getting up to speed on the existing applications and their capabilities will involve a learning curve.
Getting up to speed on our industry will also require patience and time.
Learning the underlying technology and architecture.
Gain credibility of the dev teams.
10 years of experience testing enterprise software systems is preferred.
Strong Verification and Validation experience.
