Velex, Inc. is hiring a Small Cell Foreman in the following area(s): Benicia, CA.
Who We're Looking For: Velex is currently looking for a Small Cell Foreman to join our growing team. The Small Cell Foreman will be responsible of installations of small cell sites on various types of poles as well as test, analyze and troubleshoot problems within the wireless network sites with minimal guidance for tasks performed. They routinely work with all outside contractors, inspectors and departments within the company to complete work assignments on all equipment to include microwave, antennas, poles, fiber, coax cabling and associated equipment. They develop and maintain a positive company image and provide a strong example for crew members for quality, safety, and professionalism.
What You'll Do:
Lead and manage multiple groups of 2-3 crew members and mentor and train junior team members
Manage multiple sites at the same time
Perform general construction of small cell sites to include, but not limited to: site layout, clearing, excavation, concrete foundations/slabs, site assembly, trenching/conduit installation, H-frames, temporary fencing, aggregate roads/compounds, cabinet placement, wiring, securing, maintenance/repair, and other tasks in accordance with specified work orders
Operation of a boom truck, crane work, set light poles, know proper rigging
Follow proper safety procedures when using electrical test and communications equipment
Evaluate the job sites and communications equipment, and secures and protects as required knowledge of antennas and polarization patterns and factors affecting bandwidth and gain/loss of antennas and spectrums
Fully test an antenna/line system as required via PIM or Sweep; set azimuth and setting RETs
Follow detailed method of procedures (MOP) and practices to perform maintenance on equipment
Interpret the alarm conditions on the network and implement repairs and restoration plans to ensure minimal service disruption and impact to the customer.
Pickup/Deliver supplies, tools, equipment, cabinets, batteries, etc., via company vehicle (towing trailer if applicable)
Responsible for the upkeep of all company-issued tools and equipment
Maintains and submits complete and accurate files/logs/pictures/reports as determined by supervisor and/or other management personnel
Develops and maintains a positive company image, both internally with fellow employees and with customers
Provides superior customer service, ensuring all essential job functions are performed in a timely, efficient, accurate, and safe manner
Adhere to all driving requirements as determined by State and Federal regulations
Adhere to all Company and industry (i.e., OSHA) standards/regulations
Vehicle remains clean and presentable at all times
Other duties as assigned

The Skills and Background You'll Bring:
Experience with and the ability to perform elevated work with a 50 lb. load
Experience with and the ability to work on a ladder or bucket truck
Experience with Small Cell site construction preferred
Able to crouch, kneel, and twist throughout the work day
Able to reach, grasp and climb with both hands
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and drive or ride in a truck for long periods of time
100% travel required. Must be able to travel outside of local market and any state across the U.S., possibly for weeks at a time.
Flexible to work shift work to include maintenance window and weekends as needed
Must have a valid driver’s license with an MVR record that classifies you as insurable if required to drive and the ability to drive long distances on and off road and to tow trailers
Must be 21 years of age or older if required to drive
Must be able to become DOT certified if designated as an eligible driver for the Company
Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, regulations, instruction manuals, blueprints, and specifications
Local to the market
Periodic air travel will be required
Good oral and written communications skills and the ability to speak, write and read English
Strong leadership, reporting skills to team and market leads and ability to lead a team a must
Must be able to accurately track crew member hours on a daily/weekly basis and submit time for management approval in a timely manner
3+ years of experience with wireless telecommunication site construction
Extensive experience with wireless telecom technologies including fiber optics, coax cable, carrier adds, LTE and 5G preferred
DAS experience is a plus
Highly skilled at installation, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems as they relate to equipment installation and failure
Experience testing and working with Fiber
PIM and sweep certification strongly preferred
OSHA Safety standards certification is preferred (will provide training)
