Position Summary


The Development Manager directs staff and functions to develop and maintain information technology business systems throughout the entire organization to assure the accurate and efficient use of information. Advises organization concerning IT priorities, development trends, technical problems and need for software upgrades.  Recommends IT business system technology within the company. Builds and maintains mutually productive relationships with business partners from across the organization.  Aligns business partner expectations with departmental priorities.


Essential Job Responsibilities



  1. Formulate, direct, and participate in development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for IT Development Department.

  2. Determine information requirements, boundaries and priorities of new projects to evaluate current system capacity, future system acquisitions and organizational needs.

  3. Oversee the development, integration, implementation and maintenance of business information systems.

  4. Supervise the maintenance of business systems ensuring system security and data integrity.

  5. Assist employees from across the organization to determine system needs and respond to questions concerning access to resources and the operation of various business software programs.

  6. Prepare and analyze reports of business and peripheral systems productivity, malfunction and maintenance to ascertain costs and plan operating changes.

  7. Confer with departmental management involved with proposed projects to assure cooperation and further define the nature of any given business system project.

  8. Research new opportunities for increased productivity. Evaluate and apply software development technologies.

  9. Oversee technical initiatives to manage project plans for specified applications.

  10. Analyze departmental workflows and recommend process improvements or departmental realignment as it relates to business software solutions within the company.

  11. Consult with software and technology vendors to research and identify opportunities for corporate technological advancement.

  12. Remain current on business software concepts, architecture and systems.

  13. Investigate new technologies and methods to increase system efficiencies and meet organizational goals. Manage software licenses.

  14. Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure exceptional system performance, availability, integrity and security.

  15. Participate in disaster recovery planning and business continuity documentation as needed.

Skills and Abilities



  • Demonstrated successful track record of team management in an ERP environment with numerous multifaceted external systems, both on premise and in the cloud.

  • Broad experience with project management in a DevOps environment (Azure DevOps)

  • Understanding of business operations across a distribution and field service focused organization

  • Results driven with the ability to meet deadlines and coach staff to do the same

  • Must be able to translate technical concepts into lay terms

  • Focus on staff leadership, mentoring and development

  • Experience with low-code/no-code approach and process automation would be helpful

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Responsible for team management of employees engaged in ERP operation and associated development activities (maintenance, system analysis, development, data control, operations).  Hire, train and assist employees.  Establish performance standards and evaluate employee performance. 


Work Environment:  Office Environment


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, Monday – Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM with some flexibility.

Education

: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience


Experience: Minimum of seven years progressive experience in software development and engineering including at least five years management experience.


Reports to: General Manager, Information Technology
