Ammonia System Operator, Bakery- Maintenance at Aspire Bakeries

Key Accountabilities

Operates the refrigeration equipment associated with the Northlake bakery, to meet production schedules, and maintain proper storage area temperature requirements. Perform daily checks on all equipment associated with the ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems.

Responsibilities


  • Responsible for operation of equipment/engine room, boiler room, rooftop units, establishing priorities and sequences for proper adjustments, maintenance per production schedules.

  • Ensures compliance with PSM procedure/practices as well as inspecting all areas within the plant, equipment for any operational and/or mechanical issues as well as taking corrective action and notifying supervision and/or management.

  • Assists supervision in standardizing procedures/practices to improve line efficiency, safety of systems.

  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices.

  • Expected to work in all Northlake areas as needed.

  • Work safely, follow proper Lock-out/Tag-out procedure where applicable.

  • Be proactive in preparing for all daily production schedules for morning start ups.

  • Review work orders, and perform routine system checks daily.

  • Follow proper sequence how to perform pm work orders, as equipment is available.

  • Order parts, or materials as needed. Create and maintain a critical spare parts inventory.

  • Inspect system safety cut outs, e-stop for engine room, piping/valves/vessels, annually with contractor.

  • Inspect engine room and keep dry and orderly to avoid clutter.

  • Inspect all coolers and the freezer coils and catch pans on a daily basis. All equipment on the roof as well.

  • Make sure all chemicals used, are approved and controlled through management, SDS on file.

  • This position is also responsible for food safety and legality.

  • Support quality control programs to ensure production procedures are in compliance with best practices food safety and quality standards.

Education & Experience Requirements


  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • Requires technical certificate in HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing repair.

  • Experience working in a maintenance department, preferably in an automated food processing plant.

  • Knowledge of equipment set-up, functions, operating procedures and preventative maintenance techniques.

  • Basic knowledge in programmable logic controllers (PLCs) preferred.

  • Other skills and experiences will be ammonia and Freon refrigeration, plumbing, industrical, electrical, and mechanical systems and maintenance, and automated food manufacturing process controls and equipment.
