Job Description:


NTS in Santa Clarita, CA is seeking a Fluid Test Engineer. The Fluids Test department conducts a variety of fluid and load testing on aerospace, defense, commercial and other industrial components. This is a fast paced, but exciting career opportunity where decisions will be recognized as authoritative and have an impact on services and related activities for the division. Must have a Bachelor in Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree and 2 or more years' experience in the design, setup, and testing or processing of fluid, fuel and or gas components and or systems OR we may consider a recent MSME or Physics graduate with project, work or internship experience related to fluid dynamics, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) or airflow, fuel or cryogenic testing.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide the engineering, technical oversight and hands-on support to design test setup and conduct fluid testing to include testing of fuel, liquid hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen components. This will encompass but is not limited to the following:


  • Design (calculations, schematics, drawings, etc.) the required fluid and mechanical test design (test setup).

  • Coordinate with the data acquisition and control personnel

  • Identify safety hazards and implement risk reduction activities to mitigate identified hazards.

  • Provide cost and schedule input required to implement test design

  • Oversee and provide hands-on approach to install and activate the fluid and mechanical system setup.

  • Develop, refine and implement various Test Pad Operating Procedures.

  • Interface with NTS personnel and vendors to procure and/or manufacture components in support of ongoing test and facility activities.

  • Conduct test - function as the lead test conductor

  • Collect the required data and support test report publication.

  • Lead and mentor other test engineers as required.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all company policies and procedures.

  • Actively maintain a working knowledge of technical subjects and products assigned.

  • Maintain awareness of the competition and industry and product trends.

  • Recommend new products to Product Development for R&D action and development of new test equipment.

  • Working with customers and in house business development centers to determine interfaces and common requirement in preparation of detailed cost estimates.

Required Education/Skills/Experience:


  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship and able to pass a drug test and background check

  • Bachelor in Science in Mechanical Engineering and 2 or more years' experience in the design, setup, and testing or processing of fluid, fuel and or gas components and or systems OR we will consider a recent MSME or Physics graduate with project, work or internship experience related to fluid dynamics, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) or airflow, fuel or cryogenic testing

  • Must be a self-starter

  • Must have the ability to consistently deliver performance with minimum supervision and maintain continuous communications with subordinates, peers and upper management personnel

  • Strong ethics, common sense and the ability to work extended work days

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications

Desired Skills/Experience:


  • Data acquisition systems experience

  • Trouble shooting complex fluid systems

  • Military and Aerospace compliance standards

  • Heat exchanger design

  • Process control / Feedback Control Systems



WORKING CONDITIONS:
Test lab with exposure to sudden, loud noises

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
